Btw, not so many people know much about Shi'aa here I figured out...They're also misinformed about several things, I would like to explain and share because as a Shi'aa myself I feel like I should but maybe tomorrow because it's going to take me lot of typing.

Yeah that obvious from what I read here .

I am Shi'aa too .

Few pages back he did state that those are Marx's words.

And can somebody finally tell me in what state did Abu Sufyan die?
My bad, i must have missed that.

Are there too some mourners who cut themselves withe knives, swords, etc while mourning in Ashura?

They are a small group of course but I have never seen anything as disgusting as that in my lifetime.

Lebanon never had Aashoura until Iran started financing Hezbollah 1982. Before that we never had Ashoura. Anyway, even Hussien himself would commit suicide had he knew what they're doing in Ashoura.

You didn't answer my question btw, how you're not Shi'a anymore?

If I understood her correctly, she wanted to say that she was religious in the past but now she's not religious anymore, so she can't be a Shi'a Muslim anymore. :shifty:
I see.

My case is similar to hers though. I consider myself Shi'aa but was never religious, but facts will remain facts, on papers I'm Shi'aa, my parents are Shi'aa and you can't take this out of you. But still you can simply pick not to be religious.

Didn't know its Arabic name

My university is located at a place where most of people in the neighborhood are doing Tatbir in Ashura. Last time police tried to prevent them from doing it but they attacked the police with their swords

Yea I think we Iranians owe your people as well as the people of Palestine a big apology for what our government has done to you. They are indeed the root of all problems in the middle east.

You have no idea what a hell of market they are running here for themselves in Muharrams.

Well I'm not religious anymore but I was born in a Shi'a family so I was practicing Shi'a instructions for most of my life.

It's a little strange from a European perspective though.

Muslims: Sunni, Shi'a etc etc
Christians: Catholic, Protestant, Ortodox etc

For us here these only have religious meaning, not ethnic. So even if my parents are Catholic, i'm not a Catholic since i'm not religious.

Its the same with muslims. You can't be an Ethnic Shiite for example.

Though in Lebanon they do tend to categorize people(or themselves) that way. Lebanon is composed of Muslim Sunni's, Shiites and Christians. Lebanese people mostly identify themselves as being a part of one of those groups. So even if one was not practicing his respective religion, he would still consider himself Sunni, Shiite or Christian.

Ahhh, of course, just like Bosnia.
