Well, true, (if he was to stay and which I hope) Spalletti just have to take him back to squad after a while. It's not like they have players enough to freeze anyone out of the squad. Like the case they had year ago with Panucci.

I'm not a big fan of him either, but as a backup for free I'd welcome him with open arms. Also, usable as a tradebait next summer.

Now if Roma can't keep those players they have already signed, there's now Taddei available for free. I wouldn't mind if he'd be signed as a backup.

Btw every single somewhat big transfer in Italy is handled this way.
