at least 30 IIRC. He can't be caught. The best JPM can do now is get clear of Schumacher, they are tied 3rd atm.

I'm more in wonder at the fact that, of the top two teams Renault & McLaren, only 1 out of 4 drivers hasn't had, on at least 4 occasions, some bad luck/mechanical failure etc. Its amazing really but thats the luck of it. It'll take a miracle now

    hows about we settle for 1)Kimi 2)JPM 3)Fisi 4)JV 20) Retired - Alonso and we're all happy :D

exactly. If they do its all over. Would love to see Fisi get another podium as well, hopefully at the expense of Alonso, but we don't know how the "team" will play this one

Mclaren front row in qualifying, but can they finally fulfil their obvious potential and cruise to a 1-2 in the race? Fastest car, two of the best drivers, but you wouldn't bet on it! Alonso starts in 5th but hopfully he'll have some sort of mechanical failure, he's about due one.

Cheers, Z man :) amazing how secure Schumi is in third place, even though he never seems to get particularly high finishes, I think he's having a better year than many people realise.

ah, of course. Well then we can safely agree on your last comment then. He's certainly not in their league yet, by a long shot. Give him a renault or a Mclaren though and he wouldn't be all that far behind imo. Anyhoo we've found a smidgeon of common ground, we might as well quit while the...

as I said, he's not going about things the right way by signing contracts far befroe he needs to, he could do with better advisors by the looks of it. Having said that he clearly has the talent to win the F1 championship given the right support and car I don't think its overly relevant what...

He's not claiming FW is a liar at all, he's trying to find ways to get out of the contract, and has even tried negotiating with Williams AFAIK (or will do in the near future) He's just looking after his best interests by wanting to be with the better team, or as good a team as possible. OK he...

Why, for choosing BAR over Williams? Its a fairly sound decision imo.

good result.. makes it a tad more interesting ahead of the three week break. Maybe the tide/luck is turning :)

Yeah you're spot on about the luck. Well actually he hasn't been lucky, he's just been the only one out of the top 4 that hasn't been unlucky! Perhaps its his turn soon, we'll see I suppose. Anyway, forza Fisi and go Jenson!! :)

    The Formula 1 thread - Season 2005

I think Kimi and JPM are privately admitting by now its a fight for second place unless Alonso undergoes a royal cockup. Renault are just infinitely more reliable than McLaren unfortunately, so if anyone's going to tumble out of another grand prix, it doesn't look as if its gonna be Alonso...

yeah you're right. Alonso can just play safe and settle for 2nd or even 3rd in the remaining races now, and he'll still be crowned champ. Doesn't make for much excitement in the forthcoming races.
