Well the 3 man backline in a 3-5-2 is meant to temporarily transform into a 4 man line when the attack comes from one wing. Otherwise the whole setup wouldn't really be working, problem is that it requires a lot of great positioning and above all quick transitions.

Nah, Cuadrado would kill us on the defensive end against City. Sandro, I agree. Dybala-Morata would be better as well, though Mandzukic has a case due to Morata's awful form.

I've got a much more positive view (or less hysterical as I'd put it :P) of the 3-5-2 than most people here, but I don't think that it's the formation to start with today. City got strong wings, and while a 3-5-2 can counter very effectively with the right set of players, I don't think that it...

Nah, if anything it's still denial ;) It's not a "I'm fine with losing" type of feeling, my gut feeling genuinely tells me that we'll do good.

It's seriously weird, every rational fibre in my body knows that this spells disaster and we're likely to lose by a 2-3 goal margin, but for some reason I'm so calm and optimistic :D Usually I crap my pants before any CL game against strong opposition.

You don't throw an inexperienced 22 year old into the starting lineup of the biggest away game of the first half of the season during a chaotic period at the club, esepecially when the youngster in question has arrived here only two weeks ago.
