Good thing Liverpool don't win the cup, Karius would have dropped it anyways

  4. Summer Mercato Thread 2018

No, Vecino is first choice in the Uruguayan midfield. Everything points towards Vecino/Bentancur starting at the World Cup.

Indeed. His height makes him useless in aerial abilities, but in his position this might not be as bad as it might sound. Remember there have been players such as Pirlo which never excelled in the air yet became absolutely fantastic nonetheless.

I see him as a slightly more defensive Verratti. Preferably in a DM role but can enter the box late and can be dangerous with long shots. He's primarily a ball winner though, but should have no problem in a 2 or 3 man midfield.

Haha. Fun (real) fact: Lugano won the fair play award in the Copa America 2011 victory for Uruguay as captain. It led to Abreu saying the now infamous line "Giving Diego the fair play award is like giving Bin Laden the peace price"

Look no further than Serie A: Lucas Torreira :tuttosport:
  9. Summer Mercato Thread 2018

Fun fact: he won the FIFA fair play award in the 2002 World Cup
  10. Summer Mercato Thread 2018

Haha, Montero was one of a kind. Not sure he would work as well today though. Giménez gives you everything Montero had except that incredibly rough play style and numerous red cards
  11. Summer Mercato Thread 2018

Absolutely. Here's a good example of what Josema is all about: Defending with his head :tuttosport::tuttosport::tuttosport:
  12. Summer Mercato Thread 2018

    No, absolutely not. He's uruguayan hah ;) He's injury-prone
  13. Summer Mercato Thread 2018

True, that is a concern and probably his only weakness.
  14. Summer Mercato Thread 2018

Probably. But you would get a CB that has 10+ years in him at this level. My point was that he's way more realistic for Juve than Godín at the moment. Only way I could see Diego leave is because Simeone does as well.
  15. Summer Mercato Thread 2018

There is no way Godín is leaving Atlético at this point. He's said numerous times he's a fan of the club and rejected a bid from City with a salary 3x higher than what he receives. Giménez is another story. Fantastic CB with experience despite his age.
  16. Rodrigo Bentancur

No, nunca. Pero he visitado varias veces. Jaja genial, de dónde venís vos?
  17. Rodrigo Bentancur

Jajaja si. Mi viejo es de Salto y yo nací en Suecia pero hincha hasta la muerte por la gloriosa Celeste!
  18. Rodrigo Bentancur

Yeah, just shows you that South American qualifiers is the toughest in the world without any doubt. However, I would advice you to look at Peru. They have a solid team with grit, just a shame that their main main Guerrero won't be available...
  19. Rodrigo Bentancur

I'm pretty sure 'El Maestro' Tabárez will line-up with something like this: Muslera Varela - Godín - Giménez - Cáceres Nández - Vecino - Bentancur - Rodríguez Suárez - Cavani If more offensive power is needed then De Arrascaeta can play as an 'enganche'. If a more traditional 5 with...

Fantastic. URUGUAY NOMÁ! :juventus: Yes, he's always been vital when not injured. Fortunately for us (and him) he has recovered and looked good playing with Lazio so he will most likely be a starter if he keeps his current fitness level.
