[CL] Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid (May 5th, 2015)

I can't help but feel that that attitude is frightfully disrespectful to Cagliari.

    Antonio Conte

I think it was stubborness rather than naivity. He made it pretty clear he didn't think Juve could punch above their weight, but he was not prepared to set the team out in the classic fashion you would expect a team to adopt when facing a theoretically stronger opponent. He had the...

That sounds like anti-football to me, heathen.

It's still a poor recovery. And that recovery is being disproportionately felt by the wealthy. Both of those things suggest to me that a greater level of intervention is needed by the government.

    [CL] Champions League 2014/15

 As stupid as Boateng looked, it was very hard for him to do more. He managed to make sure Messi had to go on the outside and on to his right foot, which gave Neuer the best chance of making a save.

I'm no fan of the SNP, but I don't see why spending to stimulate growth is a scary prospect, provided it is done correctly. I'd like everyone in Britain to be forced to read this before voting: http://www.theguardian.com/business/ng-interactive/2015/apr/29/the-austerity-delusion

    [CL] Champions League 2014/15

Well Guardiola cocked that game up royally. To start out playing three-on-three against Barca's forwards was mind-blowingly reckless and Bayern were lucky not to be 3-0 down by the time he changed to a back four after 20 mins. But more generally, Bayern just weren't in good enough shape to...

    [CL] Champions League 2014/15

Bayern can go through, but it is hard for them to be really incisive in their attacks when they don't have Robben or Ribery. Much better movement of the ball is required because of the lack of anyone who is likely to create a chance by beating their man in a one-on-one. You also have to be...

    Summer mercato 2015

It's been apparent from as soon as he appeared that De Sciglio had talent and was an abnormally intelligent for a player of his age. For various reasons, he hasn't really developed, though.

Dull, slow game. Barca to win.

I just hope people will wake up to the mess that the current system is. There is going to be a big hoo-hah when the Tories win the most seats, but no majority and probably won't have any way of forming a government because of the Lib Dems not getting enough seats this time to top things up...

    Stefano Sturaro

Not convinced he's technically good enough to play in a deep role where there would be the onus on him to get on the ball and start moves. Think the side of the diamond probably is his best position. He'd look better if played with a more attacking full-back, so he had to do less going forward...

    [ENG] Premier League 2014/2015

Truly a fairytale. Almost as wonderful as how Portsmouth were able to overcome all odds by just spending tens of millions of pounds that they didn't have in order to win a Cup. What football's all about. :touched:

    [CL] Champions League 2014/15

You'd have to prefer to play the current Bayern. With them missing so many of their quick players (Robben, Ribery, Alaba) they are much easier to contain than they usually are. Don't know how many of them are likely to be back by the final, but their current absence means it is very likely...

[CL] Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid (May 5th, 2015)

Idiots. Gave on up a report in the Independent after references to Seb Lichtsteiner and Christian Bonucci.

    Stefano Sturaro

As usual, the reality lies somewhere in the middle. Sturaro is a player of fairly limited ability. Good energy and discipline, but not someone with the technique to influence a game that way. He did all that could have been reasonably expected of him last night. He could be a useful player...

    Alvaro Morata

The extra space there is in these big European games suits him. He hasn't figured out yet how to become consistently effective in games against Serie A teams who give Juve's forwards much less space and where counter-attacking chances are very limited.

    Summer mercato 2015

He's a good player, but he is slow. He compensates for that by being unusually big and strong for a trequartista and that allows him to recieve the ball under pressure. His lack of mobility means that he can only function in quite specific circumstances - he needs a mobile midfield to work...
