Ibra wants 'Juve style' deal
Wednesday 23 May, 2007
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is hoping that negotiations over a new Inter contract will be as smooth as when the club signed him from Juventus a year ago.
Inter pipped Milan to his signature following the match-fixing tsunami and the Swede has asked Massimo Moratti to do things 'the Juventus way’ when it comes to discussing a new agreement.
“The President did an excellent job last summer when he moved faster than anybody else to get me,” Ibrahimovic told Libero.
“Milan wanted me as well, but Inter beat them to my signature because they had a serious project,” he added.
“My agent is now discussing a financial adjustment to my contract. I only hope Moratti will be as determined as he was last summer.
“I have to admit that at Juventus they were more resolute when it came to these kind of issues.”
The former Ajax sensation has also looked to defend the image of Luciano Moggi – the former Juventus director general who many hold as responsible for Calciopoli.
“We won too much and that was the problem for many people as they were just jealous,” commented the international.
“When I arrived last summer I told Moratti that he needed to hire Moggi if he wanted to change the team’s mentality. Luckily we won the championship even without him.
“What is the difference between Inter and Juve? They are two great teams, but the Bianconeri were a more united group.
“That cohesion is still missing here in Milan. You need to learn how to live at the top, we are learning that now.
“I think we need three new signings in order to do even better next year. One name? Cristian Chivu, he is a phenomenon.”
