Moggi: Abolish video evidence
Friday 22 April, 2005
Juventus director general Luciano Moggi has launched a tirade on the “biased” use of video evidence and demanded a change in the rules.

The Bianconeri chief was furious after Zlatan Ibrahimovic was handed a three-match ban for striking Ivan Cordoba in an off the ball incident during Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Inter.

“It is right to combat violence and video evidence is necessary, but the images used should not be provided by television companies,” said Moggi in an official statement.

“As far as we are concerned, the footage should come from the Federation and be handed over only when the Disciplinary Commission requests it. We cannot put the fate of the Scudetto in the hands of individual television directors.”

Ibrahimovic was caught on camera lashing out at Cordoba during the closing stages of the match and were glimpsed in a corner of the wide shot of the pitch by pay-per-view television company Sky.

“Cordoba stood on his foot and Ibrahimovic pushed him away,” insisted Moggi. “It was not a violent action and nobody in the stadium even realised it had happened.”

Francesco Totti was given a five-match ban for his clash with Francesco Colonnese in Siena’s 2-0 win at Roma that same evening, while earlier this month Giallorossi player Leandro Cufre was suspended for two matches for a similar incident to that of Ibrahimovic.

“Other more serious incidents around the country weren’t even considered by the Disciplinary Commission. This is why video evidence is necessary as long as it is the same for everyone. The only way to guarantee that is to have the footage pass through the Federation first.”

There is more to this than meets the eye, as Moggi also gave another interview in which he suggested that Milan director Adriano Galliani – who is also President of the Lega Calcio, which runs the Disciplinary Commission – had a part to play.

“It really took an eagle-eyed director to spot that incident and I’d like to thank this man for the good work he has done for the community at large,” said a deeply sarcastic Moggi.

“I must say I’m not remotely surprised that Ibrahimovic is suspended for the Milan game on May 8. It really is a quite remarkable coincidence, isn’t it?”

We'll get it reduced to two, mark my words.

Youv'e hated him since day one, your such a biatch in this subject. Just feels silly when your trying to argue about this.
I agree with that. Seven just wanted another bone to pick with Zlatan, and I bet he's all giddy with joy now that he's got something else to post about.

It's not nonsense. We'll see whether or not Zlatan lost us the scudeto, but he just might have done so. When you're an important player to a team, it is your responsibility to be there every week. If you're so stupid to get sent off, the team has every right to be mad, because they depend on you. We depended on Zlatan and Zlatan failed us.
Alright so Zlatan failed us and lost us the Scudetto. You'd make a great coach Seven.

Please. I'm mad at Zlatan because we just might lose the scudetto thanks to this. That I'm mad now only means I support Zlatan.

What's wrong with you, Andy? There's no point in having a great player when that player gets sent off, don't you see that? To a certain extent we're dependant on Zlatan and if he's not there we're in a trouble. So had he been a professional, he would have made sure he was there.

ppl for crying out loud can PLEASE someone tell me WHY is zlatan suspended??

what did he do?
He headbutted Cordoba and Mihajlovic in the Inter game, he got a yellow card which means one match ban against Lazio.

From video evidence, the board of discipline saw that he deserves 2 more games for his actions thus making it 3 games: Lazio, Bologna and Milan.

There is nothing wrong with me Seven. I just think it is extremely unfair to blame Zlatan for losing us the Scudetto; a Scudetto that still has not been won yet and a Scudetto that takes a team effort. Infact it's so ridiculous I might as well let it slide.

Alright olkiller, lets just use Ibrahimovic as a SCAPEGOAT for this season's failure, that would make a lot of sense. Lets blame him for all the losses we have suffered this season because of poor team play. Lets blame Zlatan for the midfield being extremely poor throughout the season. Lets blame Zlatan for our poor performances against top sides when needed to step up our play to get a result. Lets do all of that because that is what essentially we are doing when we blame Zlatan for "losing us the Scudetto."

Pathetic.

If we have to rely on one player so much perhaps we don't deserve to win the Scudetto.

I'm not blaming him for losing us the scudetto. I'm saying he MIGHT be the reason we'll lose it, which he IS.

Yes, it takes a team effort, but our team is dependant on Zlatan. So if Zlatan gets sent off that means he's letting the team down.

Well, if I was on the pitch and in the same position I would have clocked Mihajlovic as well. I guess I would have "lost us the Scudetto" too.

That kind of thinking is outdated, So if we win it, he is the reason we won it? Correct? Its like saying del Piero and Zlayeta aint shit and they should all bow down to the might of king Zlatan. Kind of like spitting the rest of the team in the face.

It would be different if he was on the field and got a red card against lets say Milan thus making it 11-10, then it would be fair to put a little of the blame on him, But in this situation and the Nedved situation in the CL a year ago it is nobodys fault but the team if we dont win, Maybe the ****ing refs for ****ing with us all season but once(Roma Game).

1 Player isnt the team and cant be blamed for the team losing, especially if he isnt even on the pitch.

Not in my way of thinking at least.

he has been our only attacking edge this season, trez and dp have been bland and zala industrious, Z has had to pull off the quality himself.

Yeah good point Tony. Perhaps we should all blame Nedved for us losing the Champions League two years ago because he was not available to play. But of course, that logic would not work for Seven in this respective case.
