Juventus have launched their appeal against Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s ban with claims that Ivan Cordoba and Sinisa Mihajlovic were the real guilty parties.

“The three-match ban is an injustice,” slammed Fabio Capello. “Video evidence should also be used against those who simulate injury or contact. I am confident our appeal will be successful.”

Ibrahimovic was handed a two-match ban – extended to three because he was set to be suspended for a yellow card anyway – after he was caught on camera striking Cordoba in an off the ball incident during Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Inter.

“You all saw Alessandro Del Piero when he was punched by Leandro Cufre last month and he stood his ground,” continued Capello. “Cordoba fell clutching his face in simulation of a serious injury. This behaviour should also be punished and was clearly unsporting conduct.”

Ibrahimovic is not entirely new to off the ball incidents and was fortunate not to be dismissed earlier in the same game for a head butt on Sinisa Mihajlovic, but Juve again pointed the finger at the Inter players.

“I have always told Zlatan not to react, especially as in Holland he had insulted several referees,” revealed his agent Mino Raiola.

“I am not here to defend him, although I am sure he will mature through this experience. It is nonetheless true that Zlatan was subject to an incredible amount of provocation by the Inter players and especially Mihajlovic, who hurled racist and personal insults at him in Serbo-Croat throughout the match.”

Although Ibrahimovic is a Swedish international, his family is originally Bosnian with both Catholic and Muslim elements, while Mihajlovic is Serbian.

Juve’s lawyers could call in Serb-speaking lip-readers to view the video tapes and judge whether or not Ibrahimovic was subject to extreme provocation, although that would not explain why he struck out at Colombian Ivan Cordoba.

Dude I'm just trying to speak the same language as Seven

Because I think the major mistake was made by the referees, and I think Berlusconi had he's work cut with this shit. Of course I'm not saying what Zlatan did was brilliant, I'm just saying its Zlatan.
I agree, the ref did a mistake for not red carding this racist Mihajlovic or this idiot Cordoba, but Zlatan should control himself. (although i admit i would have broke Mihajlovic legs)

Agreed, I would have fucked him up. Mihajlović was good friends with Arkan, one of the biggest war criminals in the Serbian aggression against Bosnia, and I'm sure he made racist remarks to Zlatan. I would have made sure he never played football again, even if it ment a one year suspension.

Kudos for headbutting him Zlatan :thumb:

1 Player isnt the team and cant be blamed for the team losing, especially if he isnt even on the pitch.

Not in my way of thinking at least.
You're very wrong there, mate. Zlatan is extremely important to this Juve squad, although I don't think that's a good thing. And therefore he really is more important than most of our players. It's not always a "team effort", you know. You have players that give you the edge, and this season Zlatan has given us the edge, whereas for example Zebina hasn't, although he played a good season.

Well, if I was on the pitch and in the same position I would have clocked Mihajlovic as well. I guess I would have "lost us the Scudetto" too.
No, but you COULD be the reason we lose the scudetto. Come on, how hard is it to admit Zlatan did a childish thing here? Of course Mihaijlovic provoked him, of course he had a tough game, but there are no excuses for this kind of behaviour. Besides, it's not the first time he does something like that this season.

Yeah good point Tony. Perhaps we should all blame Nedved for us losing the Champions League two years ago because he was not available to play. But of course, that logic would not work for Seven in this respective case.
Well, in fact, I was angry at Nedved. It was a foolish foul to commit and it made things very tough for us in the final. Although I don't think it's the same thing. Nedved just commited a foul, which can happen during play. Zlatan didn't just commit a foul.

I can't blame Zlatan if Mihajlovic was verbally abusing him and spitting racial taunts. Why? Because I would have clocked the bastard myself. It's only fair punishment.

Since when is football fair, Andy? Those things aren't fair, you know they're not fair. It's very hard, but you have to remain calm at all costs. In an everyday situation you should beat the crap out of Mihaijlovic, but on a football pitch you shouldn't. And I know it's ridiculous, but you should still remain calm.

Yeah, that's really easy to say on forum. Real life is a different story though.

But like I said I would have clocked Mihajlovic, been suspended for five matches, and lost us the Scudetto all by myself.

FFS, that's not what I said andy. I said you MIGHT be the reason for us losing the scudetto. I know real life is a different story and chances are I would have done the same. Professional football players however shouldn't act like that. If you're a true champion, you're better than that. Don't start to glorify Zlatan's action here. He was dead wrong.

MIGHT and IS
In the context it was obvious that "IS" referred to "MIGHT". It's a fact he might be the reason for us losing the scudetto. That was what I was trying to say.

I'm not glorifying his act, only putting it into perspective. Most people probably would have done the same as Zlatan.
Oh, but I'm not argueing with you there, Andy. I also believe most people would have done the same. But in football, it's not something you should do. You have to try to remain calm. I know you're going to say something about my next sentence, but to hell with it. Zlatan should learn that from Del Piero. Ale never lets himself go like that. It's extremely hard to remain calm, but you should. Besides, it's not like it's the first time Zlatan does a thing like this.
