No because one individual doesn't overcome the dynamic of a team. If your team sucks, I don't give a rat's ass about how good you are as a player: you don't deserve to be there.

Argentina hardly sucked in '86.

They had a good team.More than good enough to be at the World Cup. Maradona was just so ridiculously dominating in that team, that it made it seem like the other 10 players were useless.Which wasn't the case.Pumpido, Burruchaga, Valdano, Ruggeri..all top drawer players.

Zlatan won't be really missed at the WC. Just like Weah, Shevchenko, Giggs weren't missed when their NTs failed to make the WC. You just know that these players won't be allowed to make the impact they can make, since their colleagues are just too weak in comparison. Zlatan, just like the other mentioned, was born under a bright star, but over the wrong ground. Some 200 km southern, and we'd have a different story.
