Nah, I doubt the wage is a priority for him, he's been waiting for an offer from France since departed R.Madrid, and he also turned down man utd bid. As player and Coach he's managed to win all possible privileges and achievements, There is only one thing he has yet to achieve. Appointing him as the head coach of France before WC 2026 is not far from expected.

Should be up for vote, seeing him in Rookie section definitely doesn’t feel right…

Or if it’s without a vote then adding him as a tuZ favorite for now is probably the best way to deal with this.

I just realized something, how did Madrid suddenly get rich at that time? And if they had been rich all that time why didn't they become Galaticos and won more CL sooner?
My guess is nobody had had the idea to assemble a FIFA squad in real life before then? Same question of why didn't billionaires buy clubs and give them blank cheques to sign whoever they wanted? When Abramovic finally did this with Chelsea (first of that trend) why did they initially try and build a balanced team including some solid EPL players (Wayne Bridge, Damian Duff, Glen Johnson) and not just immediately raid Serie A for the best players in the world as later billionaire buyouts would do? If you look at that Chelsea squad it doesn't look like they had unlimited funds. They signed a couple of big names: Verón, Makélélé and Crespo stand out to me. Desaily and Petit as world cup winners were already at the club as were Terry, Lampard and Gallas. I guess they wouldn't have known Mutu would flop quite so hard and Joe Cole turned out to be a better player than they probabaly expected.

I guess it's just nobody had thought of doing it like that before. Rich owners had bankrolled great clubs before- that includes us back in the day but doing the Galacticos thing quite like that I remember it captured everybody's imagination because it was pandora's box being opened.

Edit: Chelsea really did spend big, though looking at it now. 100m was an eye-watering spend in 2003. They did not get great value though. 17m for Duff back then is robbery. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003–04_Chelsea_F.C._season#Overall_transfer_activity

The following year they did it 'properly'. Adding Drogba, Robben and the Portuguese lads Mourinho wanted to what they already had made them a proper CL contender https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004–05_Chelsea_F.C._season#Transfers

he couldn't wait to leave and asked to be sold.
That was a step in the right direction, after six years at 29 he had the right to decide for his future. His career was not guaranteed, Juve would sell him in the next years, but for that insane amount Moggi made the right decision and took the path which was the best for both parties. Kaka and Shevchenko did the same and they left milan after conquering the CL but they are considered as Milan icons.

If I remember the story correctly, Spanish king bought Real Madrid sports complex for 1 billion euros. Shortly after that, the crown gifted them whole property back.
If I am not mistaken this happened twice in recent history. It has certain advantages to be kings club.
