Zdenek Zeman believes his Roma side will have a battle on their hands if they are to match the “best team in Italy” at Juventus Stadium on Saturday night.
The Czech coach, who returned to Roma this summer following a previous stint in the Giallorossi dugout between 1997 and 1999, wasted no time in hailing the Bianconeri’s rapid resurgence under Antonio Conte.
Speaking to reporters in the capital, Zeman said: “Juventus are the best team in Italy and their strength lies in the group. They’ve found a new set-up from last year and are getting excellent results.
“I’d put them year ahead of us, they did well last season, believed in their work and have reaped the rewards. It should be a stimulating game and my players will want to show that they’re not inferior to their opposition.”
Zeman is convinced his side are on the right track, this despite critics questioning Roma’s recent home performances against Bologna and Sampdoria.
“We beat Inter, but played better against Bologna or Sampdoria. Problems in defence? As far as I’m concerned you should look at how many shots we’ve let our opponents get in on goal.
“On Wednesday, Sampdoria had two strikes on target, one was a free-kick and the other was a rebound. We had 24. I’m confident and my team’s doing what I ask of them. It’s just the results that are lacking.”
