Forlan- he's done well at the higest level of club- aka the CL with Depor and Man U as well.

IMO If we let Zala do what he feels IMO he could be as good as Trez, or even better than DV. He's hard-working, and although he hasnt saved our arses with goals so far, count on him to create pressure on the opposition.

I like zala a lot.

Zala always impresses me. He might not score a lot, but he puts in a honest day's work, unlike DV or Salas. As far as a comparison with Forlan, i think Zala possesses more weapons. He can score from far away, create his own goal, and is good in aerial situations ( vs Arsenal CL '01-02).

BTW, i know a lot of people here are pissed off at DV. To those, I say, look how long it took Forlan to settle in at Man U. Now he's finally producing. Thats the kind of patience we need with DV. As for Salas........F*#k him!!!!

it's not even a Question...
but i'll humor u anyway :D

Forlan is a good player who has had a tough first year with ManU but is finding his form now.

Zalayetta was never that big to begin with.

...

i Like Zalayetta, like u all said, he's a hard worker, and he makes the best of the chances he gets (maybe not too much in serie A though). he just needs to be a bit faster and a bit more technical skills......he is also very patient and never complains....

He's the perfect 5th stricker: not too much of a waist being on the bench, never causes headaches for the coach about his little playing time, and he can score goals.

:thumb:

...........

i'm not gonna say who's better because i've mostly seen forlan during his worse spell at ManU last season. Though i've seen his nice goal in the 2002WC.

forlan is better, technique, right foot, speed... but zalayeta has his advantages.

they are different strikers. zalayeta trying to take advantage of his strength and heading skills and don't control the ball a lot, sort of trezeguet (16 area player). forlan using his south american technique and shooting skills but don't have the possession in the 16 area like zalayeta.

why zalayeta don't play for Uruguay NT?

pros and cons

forlan
pros: faster, came from independiente and he's better looking that zala(;))
cons: cant score to save he's life, dumb, even dumber and he's at manu

zala
pros: good player, will get better
cons: he's slow

Well... this is an easy one!
Supporting Juve and Man City my answer should be obvious...

Forlan may be faster than Zala, but thats about the only advantage he's got. Forlan only scores thoose lucky goals... like against Liverpool (dudek screw-up)

Zala is stronger and he also seems to have some brains ;)

They are both useless players. I'd rather not have either of them.
I disagree!
It's great to have a player like Zalayeta for the Coppa Italia. Last year he scored goals and played well in the tournament, and he has already scored once this year.

scored 3 goals. one in each competition.
zalayeta is not the kind of players you can say is useless. he give his best, not complaining and sometimes do a good job. for a 5 striker is enough

yeah, but he will never do anything worthy of the money we have spent on him, and the oppurtunity that he is taking away from others.

He'll probably be sold along with Salas when Miccoli and Sculli returns... but I still won't call him useless...

Would you rather use Del P and Trez in Coppa Italia? Not a good idea... they'll get tired.

With all due respect Ian... What are you on about!!

If you had ever seen Forlan at independiente, you would know exactly what he is capable of... He is a very talented player, that once he beds in at manu will become something a bit special.
Hes starting to show it now... his last three starts for manu he was by far the best player on the pitch, and as he gets more play and his confidence grows he will prove all the doubters wrong and show exactly what a bargain he is.... jus wait til next season.

And even so far, ok he hasnt been finnishing but you cant miss the quality that is waiting to come out.

Zala is in no way a useless player, he is a good player that offers another dimension to our squad.... ok he aint no world star but hes the ideal bench player.... and has done some very good things for us..... he is useful.

You also say he cost us money... when exactly???
We bought him for next to nothing.. then he spent most of his juve time at other clubs on loan when we didnt have to pay his wages... so how exactly has he cost us anything??

I think you should go back and watch some of his games this year and re evaluate.
The perfect example of the dimension he adds can be seen in the newcastle game at SJP.
Where his arrival on the pitch changed the game and he caused the newcastle defence all kinds of trouble... something our star line up had failed to do...... He is more than useful!!

I've seen Forlan one time in a preseason friendly. He's quite talented, has good skills but needs some work still. Deployed on the wing for the occasion he did quite well to supply balls into the box, I believe he also scored. He can dribble and he's quite fast. He will probably improve at ManU.

Forlan is a JOKE !!

I've been watching him since he joined Man Utd .. never ever impressed me - not even for a single minute. The guy got lucky against Liverpool, even Paramatti would've scored a goal from that oppurtunity .. it was totally Dudek's mistake .. He obviously has a poor record (3 goals in 9 months ?) .. what talent are u guys speaking of? He's a total flop.
