Marcelo Zalayeta's agent has stated his client will not be leaving Juventus now that he has signed a four-year deal with the Old Lady.

The Uruguayan hit-man, who is well down the pecking order at Stadio Delle Alpi, had been targeted by a number of European sides.

Agent Daniel Delgado insisted the likes of Real Betis, Parma, Lazio, Paris Saint German and Marseille had been chasing his client, although he played down Bordeaux's reported interest.

"Zalayeta won't leave Juventus. On Wednesday he signed a contract extension for four years," Delgado told skysports.com. "He was being approached by very good clubs.

"Betis, Parma, Lazio, Paris Saint Germain and Marseille wanted to sign Marcelo. But Juventus offered him the chance to stay.

"Bordeaux? They haven't shown any interest in my player."

Juve are keeping him for the coppa italia and champions league compititions.. not only does he expand the squad allowing the main strikers to rest but he also creates compitition aswell, making sure that the forwards on always on form. We need this guy more than most think.

Great to hear about Zala. It's not easy to recognize your role as a backup, but it's critical and he's played it as well as anybody. Glad to have him committed with us for longer. :pint:

That's interesting, he's assuming the Rampulla role. Knows he'll be stuck on the bench forever and yet he wants to stay. Well we could do much worse for a backup striker.
