But, according to the manager of the dining hall in Kunming, they gave the delicacies a wide birth.
Yang Li told The Sun: "The players would not eat any of the meal.
"David Beckham was here for 40 minutes, but he spent the whole time playing with his mobile phone. He was very polite and very calm, but he didn't speak much."
And that's not because he had his mouth full of fried worms, glazed bees and deep-fried grasshoppers.
