this could be a good thing. Negotiations have been stalling in all deals (barry to pool, alonso to juve) and some pressure might just make the whole thing go on again. Maybe pool will wake up and try to monetize alonso as soon as possible and that's where we are coming in...
Let's hope for the best. Alonso is still on vacation if i remember correctly, so that's why possibly no news are coming. Tuesday should be the D-Day (supposedly for both Poulsen and Alonso even though poulsen seems to be already half-official; probably medicals on monday and then announcement on tuesday alongside alonso??!! :))
I think your right, wenger could in fact be doing us a huge favor, this could push Rafa to spit out the cash to get Barry or lower the tag on Alonso to make the cash to get Barry. On the other hand, if Arsenal were in fact to hijack the deal, we may be left in the dark with just Poulson... But, if there is really interest from Arsenal, this will probably leave Barry's pricetag at 18 mil pounds so Rafa needs to act fast. Regardless if its true or not, it may be good that its in the media so that Rafa gets a fire under his butt and he starts takin some serious action...

Poulsen locked up,but Alonso deal could yet happen.
They say that Liverpool asking for 17.5 mil(euro) now,if that's really true i can't see any reason why we won't finish it up.
17.5?!thats a fair and good price!

We signed Poulsen,
Stupid move, plus 3,5 mil.Euros per year for him.
The only good thing here if such exists is that we would not sign Stankovic.
The rest of this stupid transfer is very ,very bad.Secco continues to gamble stupidly with Juve pride and fans.
I am dissapointed

IMO Stanković would be more usefull than Poulsen. We have Sissoko, Zanetti and Marchisio as DM, sop we need someone who could pass or play on the wing, so Deka would be better option.

i believe that the possible transfer of Christian Poulsen is a pretty good signing... he's a stabil midfielder who is good at spreading the ball around and has the same fighting spirit as sissoko. Sissoko and Poulsen could turn out to be exactly the kind of compact central midfield that ranieri is on the lookout for...

Personally i would rather have that juve spends about 60 - 75 mio for poulsen than 150-180 mio for alonso... that leaves some money left to spend on other positions

Juventus will reportedly announce the arrival of £6m signing Christian Poulsen over the weekend.

According to several newspaper sources in both Italy and Spain, negotiations with Sevilla were concluded late last night.

The 28-year-old Dane is expected to put pen to paper over the next few hours on a four-year contract worth £2.5m per season.

Poulsen is notorious in Italy for the coming together with Francesco Totti during a 0-0 draw in Euro 2004.

Totti claimed he had been repeatedly provoked when he was caught on camera spitting at the midfielder.

The Danish international’s arrival bolsters the collection of pugnacious defensive midfielders at Juventus, joining the likes of Cristiano Zanetti and Momo Sissoko.

A creative figure is still required, so talks for Xabi Alonso could well be revived despite his £15m price-tag.

The Liverpool star had seemed on the verge of a switch for most of the summer, but veering towards Poulsen scuppered those negotiations.

It is now reported that the Bianconeri are happy to splash out on both Poulsen and Xabi Alonso for their Champions League campaign.

Poulsen is indeed a good player. However, if we buy him for the purpose of squad depth then I'm all for it, but if we're putting our Champions league and scudetto hopes on Poulsen then we're fucked. A midfield of Alonso, Poulsen, Zanetti, and Sissoko to me, seems world class.

Barry is almost a done deal to Liverpool now...Xabi ;) tuesday?

Barry on the way as deal is done

Gareth Barry will bid a bitter farewell to Villa next week just as American keeper Brad Guzan arrives in Martin O’Neill’s changing squad.

Barry’s disputed exit to Liverpool is now just days away after the Anfield club finally struck a deal over the methods of payment in what will be a record sale for Villa.

Liverpool are paying around £15m in cash and throwing right-back Steve Finnan into the pot as well and that will go ahead within 72 hours now that Villa have agreed a time scale of staggered cash payments from Anfield.

That closing act of an angry farewell will coincide with 23-year-old Guzan being recruited for about £1m to fill one of Villa’s two goalkeeping vacancies .
