Aston Villa have finalized Sidwell's transfer-http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/villa-agree-sidwell-deal-863354.html

On Liverpool Forums, the common beleif is that Barry will sign for them by the weekend.
I hope that means that Xabi is ours by the weekend.

pray for this...

buy Xabi, sell Almiron, keep Tiago if he is going so well in the training as they say...

if all go good, we will have 2 new world class midfielers for new season and sissoko that didnt play the whole season and if Andrante is good we will have depth in the defence...

that will be a dream, and juve will go for the CL...

Juve: becomes harder for Xabi, Aston Villa 21 million calls for Barry to reds

13:34, 09 July

It could further complicated the negotiations to bring in Turin on Liverpool midfielder, Xabi Alonso. To make things more complicated there is the thinking Aston Villa, in which clubs play Gareth Barry, identified by the reds as the ideal replacement for midfielder Spanish. The negotiations between 'reds' and' villans' counts today a new chapter.

The Birmingham club has sent to Liverpool a letter stating the terms for the transfer of Barry: 21 million euros plus the Irish central defender Steve Finnan. At this point the reds hardly accept any offer by the lower Juventus 20 million euros. The bianconeri per hour would have arrived to offer 16 million. The coach, O'Neill said: "After the Liverpool contacted us we wrote a letter. Vedamo do we respond. The truth is that from now depends only from them and for the moment that's all, I do not know what will happen in future

source:calciomercato
Let's pray Reds to accept our offer,b/c they need it badly i think:rolleyes2

It's confirmed on the official aston villa homepage (don't have the link atm, but i saw it). They said that in the next days (tomorrow?), Sidwell will have his medicals and sign the contract. But it's pretty much official with sidwell.

Question is; do they need to sell barry for this deal? Don't know too much about villa's financial situation, but everything points to a barry to liverpool transfer in the next days.

Agreed; let's not sell tiago. He's way under his market value right now, and i doubt we could possibly sell him for a reasonable price (reports say wolfsburg from germany are after him - that's a mid-table team and i doubt they can pull out 10 millions). We'd have the following midfield;

Nedved (Gio) -- Alonso (Tiago) -- Camo (Marchisio)
Sissoko (Zanetti)

that's CL-material if you ask me...

they should accept it...

they dont have any other offers dont you see????

no other team has offered anyhting for Xabi...

so they have to decide xabi or barry????

It's not that they need to sell, they don't,but Barry HIMSELF wants to move,MOREOVER he didn't go to Villa's training camp,he was fined by O'neill but his days in Villa are counted.

What annoying in all this is the unbeleiveble price He asking for him....21mil+Finnan?!common...

On other note,i don't think Liverpool have much of achoice, they have to sell Alonso to buy Barry(no'1 Rafa's target)...so i guees the will come to an end soon.

Forza Juve!

aston villa are terrible in dealing with this
they fine their star player and captain cos he has ambitions and wants to leave! and they ask for a ridiculous deal
what if this thing fails? will the ban him from playing for them??
stupid ppl, there was no point in fining

I think that no fan of Aston Villa and Liverpool wants the Barry deal to go through.
Villa fans want to keep Barry, Pool fans would prefer Xabi.
And yet Barry will most probably go to Liverpool.
Imagine what will happen in Italy if the fans of both team don't want something to happen. Petitions, rioting, bullets sent in the offices.....

Enron, what do you think of all this? Would you prefer Barry over Alonso? Especially with that ridiculous price.
For the price Villa are asking I say now way and keep Alonso and tell Juve to shop elsewhere. The only reason we are looking to Barry is that we thought he would be a cheap and more versatile alternative. While selling Xabi would give us the extra coin to make a big signing in the transfer market. This has kind of backfired on us as we didn't think O'Neill would be such a prick. At this point I wouldn't sell Xabi for anything less that 20 million euros. Even if we do get Barry it will be for a huge price and the rest of England will think they are worth as much and prices will inflate. For that reason we can't accept anything less than 20 unless Villa lower their price. And now they want 23 million plus a club legend. I don't think so.
