considering what we paid for Amauri 20mil euro is ok. Imo there are no better midfielders in the market right now who have what Juve are looking for.

This reminds me way to much of the Milito Saga last year! We will end up with a medicore player in midfield, who will turn out to be another Almiron, while Momo and Zanetti will have a winderfulll season! End of the story!

Juve Fans Launch Another Transfer Petition

Juventus supporters have launched yet another campaign, this time calling for the club to sign Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

It is no secret that a large portion of the Bianconeri fan-base do not hold the greatest trust in transfer director Alessio Secco and the rest of the club’s hierarchy.

Over the last few weeks, internet fans have launched a number of campaigns which have helped influence Juve’s transfer policy. These include protests to stop the sale of Sebastian Giovinco and Vincenzo Iaquinta, as well as the angry demonstration against the proposed signing of Inter’s Dejan Stankovic, which succeeded.

Juventus are well known to be in the market to sign a centre midfielder, and have been strongly associated with the likes of Xabi Alonso, Marek Hamsik, Alberto Aquilani and most recently Christian Poulsen.

On the Juve website, www.vecchiasignora.com, fans have started a petition calling for the club to sign Alonso, and within just a few hours they have already obtained 3000 signatures.

English newspaper The Daily Mail has today claimed that Juventus have offered Liverpool an improved bid of €20.5m for the Spaniard, so it is highly possible that the fans wishes may come true.

Hmmm, in euro it's ~20.5m.

It's not my money and we do need him. I'd hate it if we lose him for some 2 or 3m and that's why i won't object at all, but this price is unrealistic.
That is a lot of money, but it's probably somewhat less than what we'll get for the total sales of Nocerino, Tiago and Almirón.

To compare with some other central midfielders:

Deco is 31, comes from a poor season but a good tournament. Went for just 10m.

Cigarini is 22, not quite as good (yet) and will reportedly leave for around 12m.

Vieira was 29 when joining us for 20 m after a below par season for Arsenal.

I guess it makes sense. As you say, it's better to burn 2-3 extra million than settle for someone worse.

I know Cigarini has his fans but IMO he's got a long way to go before his quality is worth even half of that amount.. I just really can't see all the fuss about him

Okay, I agree. Senna was the Momo of Spain :D!

But again, I seriously doubt that we will get Xabi. Although he and Momo would fit perfect!
i wouldnt seriously doubt it, that's a bit of too pesimistic.. Whilst not being too confident that he'll join, i think it's reasonably foreseeable
