First Diego, Ronaldinho, Van der Vaart will ruin Giovinco's progress, now Alonso? :howler: Let's not sign any players until Giovinco retires because they may ruin his progress.

Xabi Alonso: I want Juve!
Saturday 7 June, 2008

Liverpool star Xabi Alonso admits he cannot wait to join Juventus. “It would be magnificent!”

The Spaniard has long been linked with a move to Turin and the deal appears to be in its final stages.

“It would be magnificent to play alongside Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet and Amauri,” he was quoted as saying in today’s edition of Tuttosport.

“They are three great champions.”

It has been reported Alonso has agreed a four-year contract worth £3m per season to tie himself to the Bianconeri.

He would hook up with fellow former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko as well as World Cup winner Mauro Camoranesi.

Juve are eager to seal the deal before Euro 2008 gets into the swing of things, as they fear a good performance by Spain could further raise his price-tag.

The team makes its debut against Russia on June 10 in Innsbruck.

First of all, how can buying a CM (Alonso) block Giovinco who plays an entirely different position? its like saying bringing de ceglie back will block a striker. Second, Giovinco is going to have to play brilliantly in our first friendlies next season if he is going to push out Nedved out of the first team. Nedved has experience and he can still run which makes him a dangerous player still. Giovinco wanted to come back, if he wants it he is going to have to fight Nedved for a place in the starting 11 and we all know Nedved is a fighter. It will be good competition for Gio. Buying Alonso will be fantastic but I do not see any link to the development of Gio playing in our starting 11. I myself would like to see Gio start some games and I know he will, but in the more pressured games it will be tough to push out Neddy.
