We could buy many for this position, but not of the same quality. The only one I can of of equal quality but with a lower price is Deco, who is four years older.

if xabi alonso would cost us 20M euros (overflow) then i would definitely use that amount of cash in a bid to lure diego away from bremen.

i'm convinced that xabi alonso couldn't repay juve for the (excessive) investment they have done in him

Look, this isn't about whether the player is "worth" so and so amount of money. Do people really think Darren Bent is "worth" 22 million Euros?

People have got to realize that these are the current market conditions. The market is inflated right now due to the English clubs having much more demand than before, so the high price tag will naturally come around. So if you want something that is quality, you're going to have to pay for it, even if it's not subjectively "worth" what you think it's "worth."

Xabi Alonso is a good player, a player that we need, and 20 million Euros is probably a fair price for the player in these market conditions. I mean, he's damn good with the ball and has played well under pressure in Champions League finals and Cup finals, so I don't see what the problem is here.

I wonder if it will ever be deflated .. It really sickens me how people who're so young and bound to have a decrease in form after a couple of super seasons getting millions times their actual worth (think ronaldinho and ronaldo)

Deco is so much underated he can give great passes with his great vision and can defend
Deco could be ideal for us but we have Secco not Moggi to think who is better and who reflects better value for money

In terms of your comment about Secco and such, i dont rate Secco or anything much after his poor signings but, getting Alonso would be better than getting Deco. I fail to understand why you guys would rather Deco, who is very similar to Alonso when Alonso is 26 and turns 27 in November, and Deco is 30 and turns 31 in August..

20 million euros is still a lot of money for juve. we are not barca, milan, real or chelsea. we have some money to spend but need to many positions fixed. If centre midfield was the only position needing fixing then fair enough, pay more than 20 million euro to get him..but this isnt the case.

we still dont have a left back, centre back or even a right back for that matter that is of real good quality. And if we rely on a 36 year old Nedved in both competitions next season then we are even more screwed...he is slowing down and isnt the man he was 5 years ago. I'm not saying Giovinco is the savour, he may turn out to be average next season, but i still think the club need to look into the whole nedved situation.

I totally agree with Andy. It's very difficult for us to evaluate players, because we're not the board who have many sources of information while we only have the media.

My point is that we should consider the long term benefit. Alonso right now is a worthy investment. However, everything is up to Secco :D not us T.T

Yeah yeah yeah, we get it already.

We can't spend 20 million Euros on Alonso, but we can waste 36 million Euros on bench players.

Don't give me this shit, Adrian.
what shit would that be Andy? The fact that we'll spend huge on Alonso, and then go stingy on the defence? Or even better, put our hopes into Giovinco to take over Nedved because playing 3 games in 7 days effects him overall?

who mentioned bench players and where did you get 36 million from?

This team needs more then Alonso...and if the club spends big on him, it will leave lil for others.

Andy's right, average players won't win us the league or the CL. If we want to be big, we have to spend big. I'd rather buy Alonso now and maybe Zapata next summer and win the league afterwards, then buy 3 average players now and sell them nest summer, because they won't be good enough.

But you think we don't have a decent transfer kitty. From what I heard, the amount of money alloted to us was at least 40 million Euros after the Amauri deal. If that is the case, we could bring in Xabi, a good left back, and someone such as Zapata for that money.

Tiago, Almiron, and Iaquinta costed us about 36 million. A proven player such as Xabi is much more drastically proven compared to them.

Alonso is someone we need because nobody in our midfield can pass the ball. End off.
