If the problem is financial (thou I don't think so), then bringing Amauri wasn't necessary at all. I know Ranieri isn't going to play with 3 attackers, Amauri, Trezeguet, Iaquinta and Del Piero plus Palladino and maybe even Giovinco, 6 players for two spots is a lot. 23 Million Euros is gone, while we need to improve the team in other areas, midfield and defense.. But If we really are going to play with 3 attackers, then that's is understandable.

Another possibility is replacing an attacker, If the issue here is to replace one of the attackers, then I guess it is either Iaquinta or Trezeguet. Both of them are possible if you "believe" what papers say, Trezeguet is a world class player, he scores wonderful goals and 20 goals he scored this year was very good, but we can't deny the fact that he is not a hard worker like Iaquinta or Del Piero, when he isn't on his day, we play like with 10 player-team, he is almost 31 and if the rumors are true, that we could get 25 million, then we just need to accept the offer, BUT, our attack will definitely get weaker without him, because Amauri isn't the type of player to replace Trezeguet, Huntelaar or Benzema would have been the right choice. Like I said, Amauri wasn't needed at all, unless if you bring him and on of the two players I mentioned, and sell Iaquinta and Trezeguet at the same time, which is radical change and has a very big risk to work on in a short period.

I am not criticizing the board for the sake of it, I just don't understand what the fuck they are trying to do. If they will play with 3 attacker, then I guess we will also play with 3 midfielders, then let's say we will sign Alonso, which isn't a rumor, then 2 spots left, the one goes definitely to Camoranesi and the other goes to Sissoko I guess. with leaving Nedved, Giovinco, Marchisio?, Zanetti on bench including other crappy players Almiron, Tiago, Brazzo etc..

Last possibility left, which is the loveliest one, is if we are going to play with 3-4-3. I would worship them if that is the plan, because we don't have good full backs (except Zebina and Chiellini, but we know Chiellini will be used at center), and adding one great center back next to Chiellini and Andrade/Legrotaglie would be wonderful.

In my opinion bringing Amauri was a good call. Why? Lets see. We got deadly attack, but Trez and Alex+ Iaquinta, not the Amauri type(style),so, with 4 really good forwards for 2 spots , we are ready for any team.We can easily switch our style up front. And what about Giovinco and Palla, than i dont think it would be any problems, cause Gio is not a striker, and Palla is simply not good enough.

if ranieri wants to play a trio upfront, that striker will be isolated at times, and trez doesnt perform well in that situation so i think amauri will benefit if ranieri opts for this on a regular basis.

I still think amauri was a mistake, midfield and defence should have been our priority. Call me stupid, but i think Palla will be a good player if we give him some more game time and experience, and we already have 3 top class strikers for a 2 man forward line. If trezeguet is playing a shit game, we switch him with Iaquinta.
If we don't take care of our defense soon we will pay like we did this season.
And can anyone give the update on Xabi?? it feels like its taking forever

We didn't really see much tinkering last season, even though things weren't working out much for parts of the season. We'll see I suppose.
I had that idea earlier, and our transfer strategy fits perfectly. If you look at it, we might have five strikers ATM, but each one is different. And it looks to be the same with our midfield targets: if we have Zanetti, Sissoko, Marchisio and Xabi/Aquilani, we once again have four mids with different characteristics. With Camo able to play in the centre and Seba capable of playing LW and SS, that should give CR plenty of options.

good post snoop. your posts are well thought and you may have a point. But i don't think amauri was a wrong signing. i bleieve we'll play like this up front (if we opt for a 3-4-3):

--------- Trez ---- Amauri ---------
-------------- Del Piero ------------
--------------------------------------
Giovinco ----Xabi/Aqui ---- Camo
--------------- Sisso ---------------
--------------------------------------
Molinaro ---- Chiellini ---- Zebina

Having trez amauri and del piero up front gives us extremely versatile systems to play. amauri and del piero can rotate and we can rotate on the fly between "target man"-attack (trez) and normal attacking.
As i said so often; if i should opt for one between iaquinta and palladino i'd take the latter. They're both not 'really' needed but palla seems to be more of a prospect. I know that he's not that young anymore, but i think he can improve and i think he can find his space in our team some time. Iaquinta is a hard worker and he did great for us... but he won't be any use imo.

Molinaro -Chiellini - Zebina? come on you can't be serious, we would concede 4 goals at least each match :D

Midfield is good but Del Piero might reject playing in that area, he always wanted to play up front, I would play Giovinco behind the two of Trezeguet, Del piero or Amauri. with Neddy on left Camo on right and Sissoko and Xabi or Aquilani (that if we sign) on center.

But we need to add a great central defender to the squad first, so they would play next to Chiellini, and one of Andrade and Legrotaglie.. I am not very sure about Mellberg, only time will tell. And we need to get rid of Molinaro as soon as possible. But trust me, these are not going to happen, we are not going to play with three man defense..

well yes, i didn't rebuild our defence of course. That would be a very attacking line-up of course. but in case we NEED to score this would be awesome. I think Del Piero actually LIKES this position. I may be wrong but he didn't always play that deep up front if i remember. and i think giovinco behind the strikers is asking too much. At least for his first season, i don't think he can do that. He's a winger-type of player. And he plays in a similar position to neddy (something like 'ALM'). Giovinco is NOT a trequartista! If we sign a good LB i think we could try that 3-man-defence. The advantages of that system is that it's pretty versatile. We could easily take out a striker and send in a defender. but of course, that's very attacking. Usually, i'd prefer a much more defending system but you have to line-up what you have, and we definately don't have a good defence, so it's no use trying to play defence because we just can't. but you're right of course; that defence cannot survive

Xabi Alonso: "Juve sbrigati a chiudere"

E lei? "Anche. So che i bianconeri mi cercano, so che c’è già stato un contatto sia col Liverpool sia col mio procuratore. Di più, posso dire che sono davvero molto orgoglioso di piacere a un club forte e storico come la Juve”.
Che sta cercando la ripartenza per la gloria.
"So che cosa è successo.
Chi preferisce come nemico?
"Nessuno dei due: sono le mie favorite per la vittoria, insieme con la Germania. E mi pare che per l’Italia, dopo l'infortunio di Cannavaro, si sono ricreate le condizioni del Mondiale: uniti nelle difficoltà, dunque più pericolosi. La Spagna? Appena dietro”.
Le sue stelle per l’Euro?
"Troppe ce ne sono. Ne dico quattro, evitando quelle della Juve: Benzema, Pirlo, Iniesta e Sneijder”.

Xabi Alonso: "Juve deal is close"
The Spanish speaks for bianconero: "It is a special squad,no Buffon, Del Piero and Nedved would not go down in serie B". The midfielder of the Liverpool is therefore ready to sign, but there is the assault of the Chelsea.

LaPresse NEUSTIFT (Austria), 7 June 2008 - AND we arrived at the chapter of the rompiscatole, dell' intruder. And it is a rather cumbersome intruder. But perhaps it lost the time. Mettiamola so: for the goal called Xabi Alonso, the Juve flew off swift. It found the ascents, has not surrenderred and went on with the its step: the Liverpool wanted a lot (25 millions), Juve offered a lot except for (15). Then it did a release: meeting with the prosecutor Iñaki Ibanez that to the end, some day does, said yes to 3.5 net millions to season for 4 years. And now it is in view of the goal: next monday l' decisive meeting: Juve and Liverpool will put the Agreement for more or except for 18 millions. But here it l arrives' intruder: the Chelsea is suddenly is interested in the playmaker of the reds and of the Spain. It could lose Lampard for hand of Mourinho. Xabi, even if with different features, has been a big fine bandage. The Chelsea (that in the meanwhile has had dedicated quite 60 millions for Fernando Torres) could insert a stick between the wheels of the Juve? The risk is, with the money that has. But the impression is that is awakened itself late for l' pursuit: the Juve is already there in the agreement. The words of Xabi Alonso confirm it. Yesterday, in the first Austrian training of the Seleccion, it has given show: its 4 of 11 goal of the game, one with a big shot from 20 meters all' crossing and another one doing tunnel to Casillas. When they tell him that it is almost done deal for the Juve, he answers: "Esperamos". That in Spanish, toh, means is we wait for that we hope. And it lifts the thumb doing a big smile when effuses him the center bianconero: Zanetti-Xabi-Sissoko. But it is first, during l' interview to the Gazette, that throws off balance itself of more.

Xabi, The Juve is a little' that waits. And you?
"Also. I know that the bianconeri seek myself, I know that there is already a contact was with the Liverpool and with the my prosecutor. Moreover, I can say that I am very proud of pleasure to a strong club and historian like the Juve".
Juve is seeking to restore the glory:
"I know what it happened. For this respect even more Del Piero, Buffon, Nedved and Trezeguet: large champions that had the courage of to go in serie B. And this means a' other thing: that the Juve is a really special society. A thing that a lot pleases me".
The championship is very different from the Premier. It hung to have the suitable features to play at home?
"It is not matter of features and of places. A good player will do well everywhere".
You thought of to come one day to Italy or was, how to say, a case?
"We say that after 4 years of Liga and 4 of England, to play in Italy has been a little' the completion of my career".
It could have it already a sample: to the eventual fourths you would confront l' Italy or the France. Who it prefers like enemy?
"No of two: they are the mine favorite for the victory, together with Germany. And it seems me that for Italy, after the accident of Cannavaro, have recreated the conditions of the World Cup: united in the difficulty, therefore more dangerous. The Spain? Just behind".
Your stars for l' Euro?
"Too there I am of it.I'll name four, besides those of the Juve:Benzema,Pirlo, Iniesta and Sneijder".

Great intreview!

Looks good :weee:

Xabi Alonso: I want Juve!

Liverpool star Xabi Alonso admits he cannot wait to join Juventus. “It would be magnificent!” The Spaniard has long been linked with a move to Turin and the deal appears to be in its final stages.
“It would be magnificent to play alongside Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet and Amauri,” he was quoted as saying in today’s edition of Tuttosport.
“They are three great champions.” It has been reported Alonso has agreed a four-year contract worth £3m per season to tie himself to the Bianconeri. He would hook up with fellow former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko as well as World Cup winner Mauro Camoranesi. Juve are eager to seal the deal before Euro 2008 gets into the swing of things, as they fear a good performance by Spain could further raise his price-tag.

Alonso Drops Strong Juve Hint

Liverpool's Xabi Alonso has welcomed the recent reports linking him with a move to the Stadio Olimpico, describing Juventus as a "special team"...
»Comments Print This Story Send To A Friend Contact Us galleria zoom Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez's putsuit of Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry could push Xabi Alonso out of the Reds' starting XI. It doesn't end there, though, because Alonso, with Spain on Euro 2008 duty, is excited by his recent link to Juventus and could wave goodbye to Anfield altogether.

The 26-year-old has been the subject of a rumoured £16m move to Serie A since the end of the season and feels that a transfer to La Vecchia Signora would 'complete' his career. "I know the Bianconeri follow me," he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. "I know there has already been contact with Liverpool and my agent, too. "I can say that I am really proud to be linked with a strong and historic club like Juventus.

“Del Piero, Nedved and Trezeguet were great champions who had the courage to go in Serie B [the club's match fixing punishment] and that means something. Juve is a really special team. “After four years of playing in La Liga and four in England, playing in Italy would be a little completion of my career.”
