IMO,Liverpool wants Barry AND Striker and/or Winger.

so if Barry is 20mil deal,10 left.for Xabi let's say they'll have another 18/20.
So with 30 almost 20 mil,you can buy the Winger/or/and Striker needed.

Without Selling Xabi, they'll have to pass on Barry, wich i believe they dont wish to...

;)
If we don't sell Xabi, then we keep Xabi and don't need Barry. Rafa has even said he doesn't mind keeping Xabi. The point is we don't have to sell Xabi to get what we want.

Because of him Juventus became a dominant force in europe
because of him we dominated the market
because of our poor management appeals we got relegated
that must be one of the single most idiotic response i've read in a long while... i can't believe how ANY juve-fan can be thankful to a man who cost us nearly EVERYTHING. Besides money, players, 2 years of CL, a coach, we lost a whole lot of reputation and respect, all because of MOGGI. It's absolutely no use trying to explain anything, Moggi destroyed juve. Full stop. If you blame our new management you obviously have no freakin' idea about what happened.
I can hear everyone saying "yes but he brought so many players" and blah blah... As far as I'm concerned, i would have preferred we would NOT have got the players moggi got us, but we stayed in serie a, and above all, did not cheat. Moggi made us look like fools and embarassed all of us.

Enough now :) this is the xabi-thread after all :) let's get him

Yo Enron, Xabi is worthless, he sucks, hes terrible at passing, has no creativity just sits on your bench, and im pretty sure the other day he called Rafa a fat tub of shit, trust me you dont want him on your team, not good for morale... don't worry though, we'll take him off your hands and you dont even have to pay us to do it, we'll do it for free.

We actually won Scudetti and European Cup before he came to Juventus, so he's not somebody who brought glory to the club, he was excellent at signing players, but he was a cheater also, so a person at least controversial. Not a kind of hero or sth for sure.

Hope you're not being serious. Xabi's better than every player in the center of the Juventus midfield. Oh and there is a s in transfer.;)

I understood rafa's interview a little bit different... He said "he [xabi] knows my decision and he knows why" and he kept saying that negotiations are proceeding and that "the situation is unchanged". If he really intends to keep xabi, he wouldn't have said those things. As far as the Barry-deal concerns, i don't think that barry is better than xabi, he simply is more versatile. Xabi is a passer, and that's all pretty much. Barry is more of a midfielder, he can play more on the left also. With mascherano on form, xabi is bound to be benched, and honestly, he doesn't deserve it. Plus barry is english, he was villa-captain (if i'm not wrong), all of this is the perfect prey for rafa/pool. And with what liverpool aims at (barry, Villa?, Silva?) they surely need some cash.
I think if we get this deal through, then we were the smarter side. We would have been lucky of course that there was no bidding war, but pool obviously wanted to just replace barry with alonso, but now they're getting some millions less... price to pay if you play EPL.

so then why do Pool want Barry?
You forget who you're dealing with. Liverpool is notoriously terrible in the transfer market. Le Tallec, Josemi, Zenden, Diao, Paletta, the list goes on and on. Sold Owen to Madrid. Sold Cisse in favor of Bellamy. Our board isn't the greatest and to be honest, while he is tactically sound, Rafa can be a bit daft in the market.

There are a few reasons Rafa wants Barry. First of all Gerrard wants Barry. Also, because of his chemistry with Gerrard, the fact that we need more English players in the side, and we can get a decent fee for Xabi. If Juve or anyoen were not capable of offering more than 15mil for Xabi Alonso there would be no conversation right now. For people to say he was leftover goods at Pool last season is just bollocks. Xabi played in the most important games over Lucas, though he did miss a lot of the season with a broken foot.

If you float around some liverpool forums a do a bit of reading you'll find that the majority of us don't want Barry. We'd much rather strengthen the areas of the team that we are the weakest such as creativity on the wings and a supporter for Torres. But given that Rafa seems to want to sell Xabi we realize we could do a lot worse.

selling Owen was truly a shocker...could you imagine a pairing of Owen and Torres?

The only reasons Liverpool want Barry is Gerrard, versatility, and the fact that he's English. That said I doubt that Xabi would get pushed out of the squad, especially if we play our 4-2-3-1. Having Xabi in that formation allows Gerrard to go forward and support Torres. It also cuts costs because instead of needing a dynamic forward to partner him we merely need a sub or someone to spell him and occasionally partner him when the opportunity calls. It allows us to spend on the wing where we really need the help. Whether Rafa will do this, I don't know.

As for Juve being smart, they have definitely played the situation perfectly placing the majority of the pressure on Pool and Villa to arrange a deal. Hopefully it won't cost them. If Xabi does end up in Turin it will be another excuse to get together with Andy to watch football.

Oh my God. That must be the most stupid thing I've ever heard about our board.
But if our board fought all the way like they said they would maybe we wouldnt have been relegated.

At the end of the day the wiretaps were illegal, only contained minor infractions, and our lwe were not given adequate time to defend ourselves.

We should of went to the TAR and if that failed the European Court of Human Rights!
