For the love of god, are you high. Just put in a few more mill to get Diego (same aged world-class playmaker who although not as good in defending still works hard). I mean that's about the price I think De Rossi would fetch.
I agree but we are not being linked with Diego and De Rossi is great but he is not the type of player we lack

Juventus close in on £16m Liverpool midfielder

Juventus hope to finally push through a deal for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso after officials met to discuss an increased offer.

Liverpool are holding out for £16million for the Spain midfielder and talks had collapsed.

But Juve are now trying to resurrect the deal and Alonso, currently preparing for tomorrow night's Euro Championship semi-final against Russia, admitted the move appealed to him.

'I have little to say about Juve because at the moment I am very focused on Euro 2008 and on Spain.

'I spent four fantastic years at Liverpool, but I have to admit that I have always been fascinated by Italian football.

'However, it's too soon to talk about the future. Juve are one of the biggest teams in Europe, perhaps the biggest in Italy. They have very many fans not only in Italy but all over the world. 'In short: a great club.'

I read the board are prepared to invest 20M in Xabi, but only if the sale of Tiago+Almiron brings that money.

Wtf? If we manage to sell Tiago and Almiron that won't bring up more than 15M IMO.

Anyway, Ranieri wants to have the complete team before 5 July so he can start the preparation. If Xabi takes too much time, Stankovic will be taken.

I don't like this news...

Liverpool need to stop being so fuckin' annoying and complete the deal
You've got to see things from our angle. Aside from Xabi and Gerrard we have a very young central midfield. Masch and Lucas will be playing in the Olympics in August as will Babel. That gives us Gerrard and unproven Damien Plessis for like the first 3 weeks of the season. Basically we aren't going to finalize the Xabi deal unless we are absolutely sure we can get a replacement. That and Rick Parry has been on holiday for what seems an eternity.
