Alonso: No Decision Until After The Euros

Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso has revealed he will wait until the conclusion of EURO 2008 to make a decision regarding his future at the club…

Alonso, who is currently in Austria representing Spain at the European Championship, has been heavily linked with an exit from Anfield this summer.

Real Madrid and Barcelona were both reported to be interested in bring the former Real Sociedad star back to La Liga, but Italian giants Juventus have since emerged as the clear favourites to snare the 26-year-old.

It was initially believed Reds boss Rafael Benitez reluctantly slapped a ₤16million price tag on the midfield maestro, but recent reports indicate he could leave for as little as ₤12.5million.

Despite previously expressing his desire to remain on Merseyside, the Basque playmaker has hinted that he could indeed make the switch to Serie A this summer.

But speaking to El Mundo Deportivo yesterday, Alonso confirmed that he is focused purely on helping La Furia Roja claim their first major trophy since 1964 and will not decide on his Liverpool future until after the tournament.

“I know there is interest (from Juventus),” he said. “But right now I not going to talk about that because there is enough to think about here with the national team.”

No problem. Instead of being a quick step counter attacking squad relying on pace. Spain transformed into a possession side which took the game away from the Russians and added another goal to the tally. Xabi's quick passes and depth on the pitch kept the Spanish midfield flowing and pressing forward, allowing others to go forward.

I hope he stays at Anfield.

In attack as well. Well, maybe not that many, but they have Villa and Torres, and I dont think there is a better attacking pairing in the Euros than those two, at least as far as individual skill is concerned, I cant really judge how well they play together.

Podo and Klose are probably the next best duo in terms of individual skill. In terms of team work the award goes to Nicholas Anelka and Nicholas Anelka as his greatest attribute is playing with himself.

In midfield that is.
Yeah, that's what I meant mostly. But Villa and Torres make without a doubt the best strike force in the Euros.

Oh man, they were a beast together today.
