Petter started well but an alternator problem delayed him at service & he got a 50 seconds penalty  It doesn't look good especially since everyone seems to be finding their form. Hope it rains soon.

Loeb is pretty much living unto his name. Sainz has slipped from 2nd to 4th. Where is the rain?
Let's hope for some drama on day 3. Go Petter!

I heard the other day that Solberg is "unfortunate" to be Norwegian, cause they can't sell him for as much as they could a German for instance, he's not worth as much for marketing purposes. You guys agree?

Sure, you see more and more in motorsport that some drivers are picked just because their nationality/marketability. That's sad, but Petter is so outgoing and different than a lot of the others that he makes up for some of it.

On the contrary I think Petter is very marketable. The guy's enthusiasm is infectious & he really is hands down the most outgoing rally driver since those crazy group B nutters. Even my some of mates who are die hard peugeot fans are really into Petter.
Gronholm is a nightmare to market so Petter shouldn't be too hard ;)

    WALES RALLY GREAT BRITAIN: OVERVIEW
    Glorious Mud
Normally the idea of standing on a muddy Welsh hillside in the fog and rain at 6am has little attraction, but for one weekend in November thousands of rally fans put themselves through this punishment to see the world championship finale.

The Rally Great Britain is an unpredictable lottery that normally decides the title fight. Fine weather is almost unheard of, heavy snowfall is a possibility but fog and rain are the most likely. These conditions tend to favour the British drivers who served their rallying apprenticeship on this type of stage, although 2001 winner Marcus Gronholm has also been mighty in the Welsh forests in recent years.

The rain tends to make the stages extremely slippery, and when the mist descends things get even worse. Visibility can be virtually non-existent, so the drivers need to have complete faith in their pace notes for they will be committing to corners almost blind on occasion.

The short daylight hours of British winters add another unpredictable element to a rally that really doesn't need any more unknown quantities. The last few stages of each day will take place in deceptive twilight conditions, almost as treacherous as the morning mists. The Welsh forests may not be the most glamorous location to decide the championship, but the stages certainly provide a fitting challenge for the drivers.

It is here, it is now and am excited like Inzaghi when he scores and as nervous as Iuliano when faced by a loose ball. The treacherous conditions of Wales Rally GB is the penultimate event for the three title contenders to strut their stuff. Fittingly this is a rally that throws in almost all the conditions so car setup & driver skills are tested to the max. The contenders .....

    LOEB
Who would have thought Loeb would be leading the championship at this stage! The soft spoken frenchman has literally exploded into the scene casting behind his hitherto 'tarmac specialist' .......
Loeb's performance in the Telstra Rally Australia proved that he has matured into a formidable force on all surfaces. His only weakness will be his under par performance in rainy conditions and this will be tested severly on this occassion.

    Sainz
El Matador! Consistency is the name of his game. What would you expect from a rally veteran. For a man sacked by Ford & facing uncertainty at the end of last year it must feel good to be joint leader of the championship with 1 event to go. His driving style will have to change on this occassion as the young guns are giving it everything. Sainz will have to attack from the beginning and throw caution to wind if he is to become world champion again. The question is will he let the Loeb & Solberg head the duel and hope that the youngsters make a mistake?

    Solberg
Argueably the most interesting thing to hit rally for a long time. His celebrations have become a trademark & it is refreshing to see they are occurring rather frequently. Lapworth has slowly transformed Solberg from a super crasher to a genuine title contender. The Subaru ace has been in scintilating form lately and has taken some considerable risk at times but it has paid off handsomely. Currently trailing Loeb & Sainz by 1 point he has every reason to be optimistic unless the unforgiving British weather has some other ideas. Everything taken into account his Subaru Impreza on Pirelli tyres is a firm favourite.

    Go Petter!!!

This is gonna be incredibly exciting, of course I'm rooting for Petter all the way. If he won it would mean so much for Norway, and I think he's the best and most fun driver overall of these three.

Hey Torkel :) Good to see a Petter fan :thumb: Since they removed the Safari Rally from Kenya I have not been able to see the WRC cars for quite a while and it is killing me! I can imagine such a battle at my door step ...... Good news is am planning to go for rally Finland next year if all goes well.
I too hope that Petter wins for it will be good for the whole rally sport.
