Andy, I would love to know what you're trying to prove here.

Seriously.

One of the worst kept secrets on this forum is that you hate baseball.

Yet, for some reason, you just decided that you need to spread your hatred for an American Tradition all across this forum.

Well, good for you.

Guess what, though.

A) Nobody really cares
B) If you're trying to convert us baseball fans into hating a sport that we've played and loved since we were kids, its not going to work.

Pretty sad when the Washington Nationals average the same attendance to their games as the almighty Juventus, don't you think??

It is something you have to get used to, how do you think I got to almost 10k posts? Real posts? Hell no, why do you think I have had about 7 accounts all banned twice but this one?

Ohh, I know, because I am Il Dynamo.

What am I trying to prove? To be honest the only thing I am trying to prove is that baseball is on the decline in the United States...sorry my friend but things are becoming quiet on the third baseline. Sure, some people on this forum know that I despise baseball like Romanisti abhor Juventus, however this oberservation does not exactly matter when the discussion involves facts, which it indeed does. This thread is relevent to the sports world and I think people would like to know that baseball viewership is on the decline, whether people like the fact or not.

Many pundits in the States put down soccer with shit that is not even factual...why can't I use facts against baseball?

    Guess what, though.

    A) Nobody really cares
Judging by the responses in this thread, I would have to say you're wrong, my friend. Unless you are alluding to the fact that nobody cares about baseball, which I would seemingly concur with despite the fact that some do care for the sport, however the select few are mostly contained in this country, to state the obvious.

    B) If you're trying to convert us baseball fans into hating a sport that we've played and loved since we were kids, its not going to work.
You really think that is my purpose here? Of course if I could convert people I would, however I am not sitting here thinking I can change the beliefs of you or the other 20 million people who care about the sport...that is called getting your hopes up. However, I am sure there are a few fans that loved the sport in the past and now are moving away from it due to different reasons...decline in viewership could be one of those aspects that push people away from the sport, even though that would be a highly idiotic reason to say the least. But while we discuss such factors, the numbers speak for themselves, Sergio.

Pretty sad when the Washington Nationals average the same attendance to their games as the almighty Juventus, don't you think??
Not exactly relevent, but when 99% of the rest of the world does not care for the sport, I suppose you have to counter with something.

But I digress...even though some blindly follow baseball because their father's father's father loved it way back when, the sport is still superior to NASCAR. I will give you that much.

You're talking about decline in viewership.

You DO realize that the two teams in question were not exactly from the baseball Meccas of the United States, despite the fact that one of the teams was from Chicago.

The 2nd class team in Chicago, at that.

Why don't you bring up the viewership ratings with Boston-St. Louis of last year?? Or anytime a Los Angeles Based team or the Yankees are involved??

What's wrong?? Don't want to bring that up??

Also, why don't you bring up the fact that attendance this year was the HIGHEST its been since before the Strike of '94? Or is that not relevant to you either?

Despite the FACT that every single market in which there is a Major League Baseball team also has at least one of the other three major sports in it.

Some cities like New York have 3 NHL Teams, 2 NFL Franchises, and 2 NBA teams, yet the Yankees still drew over 4 million people.

You want to talk about "facts", as you like to say, yet all you do is bring up the ratings from this year's World Series, and you autmatically jump to conclusions that the sport is on the decline.

    That's pretty laughable.

A lot of the supporters of Juventus are 2nd or 3rd generation supporters, myself included. Yet, I don't even vaugely recall you mention me following them "blindly".

Oh that's right, because its Soccer, so that's OK, right Andy????

99% of the world doesn't care, huh Andy??

OK, So I guess all of Latin America, Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Vietnam, count for absolutely nothing.

Now why does this matter exactly? What sort of baseball fan are you if you're not going to pay attention to the grand event? And what about other past Series such as Cleveland-Florida or Cleveland-Atlanta...last time I checked they are not exactly America's most favorite teams. Perhaps the Braves could be considered in the top three, however the other is another story. Why did people seemingly tune into those but not this Series?

Why don't you bring up the viewership ratings with Boston-St. Louis of last year?? Or anytime a Los Angeles Based team or the Yankees are involved??

What's wrong?? Don't want to bring that up??
No, because I do not really know them and do not exactly care to know them.

And about the Yankees...I wouldn't be surprised if 50% of baseball fans in the world are fans of this team. I mean all the baseball fans on this friggin board are basically Yankees fans...from Nick to Fabi to Lou, basically all of you. So it is no surprise games involving the Yankees are watched...that is understandable because the same goes for Real Madrid and Man United in football terms. But even if those clubs are not in the Champions League Final, viewership for the 2004 Final between Monaco and Porto did not slide that much...I think that tells you something.

Oh that's right, because its Soccer, so that's OK, right Andy????
Yes it is. Soccer is better than baseball and it's not forced down our throats in the broad scheme of American sports culture.

 Right. Vietnam. How could I forget about such a hotbed for baseball?

But to be honest I doubt even 5% of the world's population really cares about baseball. But hey, lets call it the World Series anyway..

Soccer is better than baseball according to YOU.

But then again, only your opinion seems to matter.

And obviously I screwed up on the Vietnam part. :D

No single sport defines this nation and I'm not being Anti-American when I say baseball sucks. If you think I am, well, that is a damned shame, however if Bush were to read this I would probably be blacklisted.

No one is calling you Anti-American.

Yet every chance you get to put the sport down, you relish the opportunity, and it quite honestly proves nothing. You seem to have very little or better yet, NO respect for the people here who actually love the sport

No it doesn't. I am just fed up with sport pundits in the United States who continue to bash soccer and the game the rest of the world enjoys the most. Therefore, I will do the same to their beloved sport of baseball.

How can you say that, Sergio? I have not called anyone here an idiot for enjoying baseball...all my attacks have been directed towards the sport and the sport only. I might have offended you with the father comment, however that was not directed to you and I apologize if you though it was...nothing about anybody here.
