This World Cup is an absolute farce. Beckenbauer and Sepp Fat Blatter should resign after this.

It is not their fault the refs are this way.

In amongst all the drama of this match I think we saw the best coaching tactics from Scolari and many other coaches (Pekerman in particular take note!) of supposed 'better' teams would be shown up.

Against the Dutch who were considered favourites yet both teams line-up as 4-3-3 but Portugal much better with more balance, organisation and cohesion. To lose Ronaldo so early on and replacing him with Simao would have been a problem for many after leading and what was to come.

At HT he had a couple of choices:
1) Take off Figo for a defensive midfielder.
2) Leaves players as they were but use Deco in a more disciplined role with perhaps Figo and Simao also more restrained but keep the lone striker.

Instead he chose to sacrifice the striker when so many teams just revert to 4-4-1 and hit hopeful balls to that guy. We saw tactics such as Roma of last season; Deco pulling the strings but breaking from midfield with Figo and Simao wreaked havoc for the Dutch. Eventually Van Basten reacted by taking off a defender but that only made them more vunerable.

Absolute brilliance from Scolari tonight and whoever they miss against England - Scolari vs. Eriksson is no-brainer victory.

I am never one to give coaches that much credit in this sport. But Scolari is showing his ability to read a match and to react tactically in a way few have. Winning seven straight WC matches with Brazil is one thing. But then adding four more to that streak with Portugal, a team that hasn't progressed past the group stage in 40 years, says a little about him and not just Portugal's players.

Scolari is a fighter lol. I'd trade him for Lagerbäck any day. While Sweden was a man down in the 4th minute, Lagerbäck was sitting down looking in awe, while Scolari was running along side Deco on the sidelines shouting and giving directions.

Half the time Sven-Goran often looks like he's filling out the crossword puzzle on the back of the match program with his assistant coaches ("What's a seven letter word for "FIFA windbag" that starts with 'B'?").

Scolari is a bit too hands-on and intense on the touch line, but he gets results and the team really listens to and respects him. That much is clear. That and here he looks like a Brazilian wannabe Bill Cowher:

I hear that. Everyone in Sweden is asking for Lagerbäck to step down. We need foreign coaches, preferably Latin. Swedish coaches are too nice and don't get too much involved. They won't take risks, they'll go with cowardly tactics. A Latin coach would scream at the players, curse, bring some flavour, and end the favoritism that has hurt the team as of late.

Sweden definitely underperformed this WC and are capable of much more. And it's not just Zlatan either.

Sometimes you have off tournaments, however. But they definitely look in need of a change.
