Not being tight or anything, but when you place money on a bet there is no way you can get it back unless the whole event is abandoned.

Lippi rules out Azzurri duo Tuesday 9 May, 2006

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Italy boss Marcello Lippi has confirmed that injuries will rob him of Christian Vieri and Aimo Diana at the World Cup Finals.

The two players have been in Lippi’s plans for some time, but the tactician today acknowledged that the pair would not be named in his 23-man squad.

“I have some clear ideas and some injuries have helped me to make certain decisions,” Lippi stated on Tuesday.

“Vieri will have a knee operation and he therefore won’t be at my disposal for the tournament,” he continued.

“As for Diana, he has a major calf problem which is failing to improve and he can’t be selected for the competition either.”

Football Italia reported yesterday that Vieri, who has been sidelined for the last month with meniscus damage, would not travel to Germany 2006.

His omission from the squad has significantly increased the chances of Livorno’s Cristiano Lucarelli of making the squad.

Meanwhile, the blow to Diana has seemingly opened the door for Marco Marchionni to break back into the set-up.

Diana, who is being tipped to leave Sampdoria in the summer, is a right-sided player who can perform in both midfield and defence.

Marchionni, a winger who has already agreed to leave Parma for Juventus at the end of the season, was called up for last week’s two-day training camp.

Other contenders to replace Diana include Chievo’s uncapped Franco Semioli and Mauro Esposito of Cagliari.

i noticed there was a topic/thread in euro2004 about stadiums used in tornament. It was posted by Erik. Same kind of thread would be good to be opened for the world cup.

And in the goupstages, to make it a bit nicer, why not edit and add a team photos for every NT team? i know we probably know moust of the players but it would look nice, with all this info around?

    anyway, heres azzurri.

A miniskirt stopped Costa Rica's last practice in Walldorf, Germany, on Wednesday.

Former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, in a tight miniskirt and high heels, walked onto the practice field blowing kisses to players and journalists alike.

"Klinsmann sent her," joked some of the Costa Rica players, referring to German coach Juergen Klinsmann. Costa Rica faces Germany on Friday in the World Cup's opening match.

"Baby, don't ask me that," Machado answered in English, when a German reporter asked her about her favorite team.

Machado, who is from Venezuela, is in Germany working for the Mexican television channel Televisa Deportes. She will select a "Mr. Pierna" (Mr. Legs), for the football player with the best legs in the World Cup.

God, I love Spanish television. :toast: It's all Mexican TV, all the time, in my household these coming weeks.

Maybe if Alena Seredova's cleavage doesn't accept Juve's coaching position, Alicia's will.
