Wonder how long it's gonna take for this **** idiot Argentinian coach to start playing our players instead of these chokers. Get Dybala and Higuain in there or you deserve to go out, absolutely useless

Argentina have pretty deep issues. A real shame. Any team that has Messi, Aguero, Dybala and Higuain should manage to compete.

Such team should fight the gold medal and even semies should be regarded as "meh". Seeing them go out is nothing but hilarious and pathetic. I mean, man, just look at those names and their price tag :lol2: but it's not just the forward line but other positions too. Serbia has a shitty team compared to them, but similar mentalty surely, as we always have rather good team yet disappoint. I think same could go for Belgium. Many impressive names yet their play is kinda poor. I think those NTs will always choke despite the players.

Both Banega and Biglia should have started today.

Biglia no, he still looks rusty after that injury, if you ask me I'd have started Lo celso and Banega and just have mascherano sitting in front of the defence tonight. this 3-4-3 formation that was played today did not suit a single player out there tonight.

That Meza guy is utterly shite I can't for the life of me think why he was even called up.

The fact that Messi had only 20 touches in the first half and aguero with fewer touches just highlights how bad Argentina are in their build up play in midfield... it doesn't even exist! just defence and attack. It's a midfielders dream to play against argentina right now, no pressure, plenty of time on the ball... how the fuck was this the same sampaoli that made a beast out of that Chile side. He had no plan B tonight, just watching him storm up and down the touchline, taking his jacket off midway through the second half showed how out of his depth he was

Dont know what peeps expect messi to do with this argentine team. They are total garbage and even worse, they know it so they have 0 confidence. They have a loaded attack on paper but nothing else about it works

its all on the coach. 1st he doesent even call up a bunch of very good players, then he benches half of the few he brought, and then pulls a formation they never played out of the blue, with players playing 1st time in their life together. and i thought Deschamps was clueless ::lol3::

How much time has passed since Argentina produced a top midfielder, who wasn't a DM? In 2010 they only had a 35 yo Veron. In 2014 they had noone (which makes their result quite extraordinary). In 2018 they still don't have a playmaker.
You have to go all the way back to mid 2000s to find Riquelme, Aimar and Veron.

To not win the WC is one thing. Spain, Brazil, France and others have a better squad overall for sure. But to not make it out of a group where Croatia is the biggest side you are against is terrible.

No excuse why this squad cant beat Iceland and gets thrashed by Croatia. Big choking job for sure.

Portugal has everything shit + Ronaldo and they won Euros.

Argies have many, many better players + Messi, Higuain, Aguero, Dybala and they can't do shit.
but look who they fielded today. Tagliafico, Acuna, Meza, Perez, Salvio, Caballero. then look at their bench and look who they left home. Sampaoli is nuts

Their coach is without a doubt a clear moron. That goes without saying. But I have a feeling even a slight-retard could pass a group, and maybe even go further, considering the other players.

Zabaleta Garay/Musacchio Fazio/Otamendi Rojo
Lo Celso/Biglia Paredes/Mascherano Pastore/Banega
Messi/Dybala Icardi/Aguero di Maria/Correa

this is their best team, now compare it to what Sampaoli took to Russia

oh, that for sure. even without a lot of players, a team with Messi-Aguero attack should pass a group with Croatia, Iceland and Nigeria with ease. choking on all levels

I think people overemphasize the importance of player selection. It's really only one small part of coaching. Argentina didn't fail because they picked the wrong players, they failed because they weren't a team.

There's no question he was instructing Caballero to play the ball. And he absolutely cannot do that. Just put 10 players behind Messi. 10 possession players and compensate their softness with numbers.

Play all the CMs who can keep the ball, because Messi needs teammates who can keep the ball. He's not Ronaldo who can jump over 2 CBs and smash headers.

Play Pastore, Banega, Lo Celso, Paredes. All flair and fancy blah blah, but play a lot of them so you have numbers to still win the ball. In possession, you can play and then let Messi find space.

Instead he puts all butchers and the ball is whizzing like ping pong. And how do you expect Messi to influence the match?
