I was really kind of surprised by their style of play. Would think there would be some discipline, knowing that Russia is obviously better, and they would try to sit back keep things simpler. but it seemed like they were more interested in trying neat flicks and link up play in midfield. Almost like they thought they were levels better than they are, or at least wanted to play that way

Was kind of hard to imagine they were playing to even draw let alone win.

Is Egypt a much better team? Aside from just Salah of course.

Saudi Arabia is the England of the Arab world in football, they own most of the media, and their media hypes the NT up so much it gets into their heads. Im sure the Saudi players really thought they were much better than the Russians going into this game. Also physically they are really poor, and it shows when they play European teams especially.

Egypt is definitely much better, for one most Egyptian team starters play in Europe anyway, second even those who dont play for Al Ahly which is the Real Madrid of Africa, they produce a lot of decent players, and focus on physical development just as much as technical development. Also their coach is Hector Cuper, who has got them adopting a defensive style and made them organised and solid at the back. I dont expect them to get anything out of todays match, but i certainly think they have a chance against Russia

y, if Suarez, Cavani and Salah playing in the same group as Russia cannot generate atmosphere, the rest of the group stage doesn't seem too promising at least it's better than the vuvuzela circus
