serious clubs wont touch him with a ten foot pole, regardless of his salary and he is way too comformist to leave his hot spot in jj shelter for a distant land. he will be paid same amount of money, but we will endure him even more years.

come 2025 the same excuses will pop up

"we can't afford new players because salary bill too high!"
"no one wants Sandro, de siglio and locatelli cuz they earn too much for back up players"
"we need to offload players but no one will buy 35 year old goalie and pay him 5m per season so we are stuck with him and can't afford new signings. no one could have seen it coming!"

If the extension is going to cost only a million more, and we get to spread costs, it’s a no brainier. Unless we are able to offload him, which would be better. Hopefully in the last year he’s a backup and we find a long term replacement.

this is his last big contract. as i said financially it makes sense, but fans will see it as one more year of a keeper who we've seen perform better
