For €9M if true, this is a great deal by Beppe.

People rating him based on his Arsenal past. He's much improved now. Most clean sheets last year.

He will be our starting keeper once Buffon retires.

Good job by Beppe by securing a top keeper in advance.
Is he a top keeper? Id rather wait until next year and sign whoever is "hot" at the time. Maybe activate a Donnarumma €50, 60m, 70m clause.

And he will cost us 15-20m?

Donnarumma is not better than him and looking out for a hot signing and hyping him up as a Buffon replacement will simply put more pressure on that said GK. Absolutely nobody right now can replace Buffon properly.

Until we have a world class replacement ready, Szczesny will do good for now.

Look at Madrid. They're happy with Keylor Navas even though they could potentially make a shinier signing in De Gea.

Szczesny was excellent last year. He deserves an opportunity here.

If a 39-year-old Buffon get injured days after the transfer market closes, you'll be fighting for the scudetto and UCL with Audero and the likes.
We sold Neto for €9m. And spend €18 to sign a GK for ~10 games. Could as well have kept Neto and saved €9m?

4MM is a bit much, but hes gonna be a starter in a year so in that case they seem just right
In a year? I actually think he's gonna start majority of the matches this season.

The latest reports say 9m for Szczesny. I'd be more worried about his wage.
There's no way we'll give him anything less than 4 million. Maybe even 5.

We won't spend 18m on Szczesny. And he's levels, so many LEVELS above Neto.

Replacing Neto with Szczesny is great if it wont cost us much. But if it cost us 10m it's unnecessary spending. Yes, he's an upgrade but who cares for a backup GK? Id have kept Neto and walled out next summer

What makes you so sure Buffon is going to be fit all season? You really do not want Neto in goal for 2 consecutive Serie A games sandwiched by a UCL clash doing the shit he did against Napoli in Coppa.

Audero was loaned to Venezia, iirc.

So yeah, we're real thin between the sticks right now. This is a good move.

Neto played 10 games this season. Can't expect him to be a top GK when playing so few minutes. Nobody can enter the field out of match form and perform at the highest of levels - neither will Sczezny if Gigi is fit and play 90% of the games. All in all i'm not against this move. As long as it wont cost os 18-20m. For €20m we could get a starting RB in Cancelo.
