We reached 2 consecutive finals and a semi with Zidane in the squad. We have only ever reached one final since. Just sayin ;)

Moreover, Del Piero was scoring all the goals (along with Trez, and later Inzaghi), but let's not forget who was dictating play in midfield (barring that 97 final when he was marked out of the game by that fortuitous prick).

In the 98-99 season (when DP was out injured after that horrific injury against Udinese) Zidane almost single-handedly guided us to the final on one knee (had Manure not been incredibly fortunate both home and away against us in the semis, and then against Bayern in the final, in both ties staging monumental comebacks).
I liked Zidane and all players from that generation who played here, even when he left I followed his career, appreciated his talent, but in all honesty I agree with Emmet; Zidane in Juve was always playing second fiddle to Del Piero, never made that kind of impact. In 1999 without DP Juve struggled and it was more of a team play and mentality, acquired from previously successful years, that made semis possible to achieve. In Real and French NT it was entirely different story.

That 7m were fabricated by Italian media. PSG won't offer him that much as they would endanger the wage structure with that kind of move. Believe it or not that exists even there.

I've always maintained that had he not got injured, DP would have led us to another CL final, without him we fell to 7th in the league, ZZ was the star man but he didn't carry us like DP did. Keane owned him in the CL semi final 2nd leg, on our own turf.

I agree with that DP84 says, it was more of a mentality that got us to the semis that season, of knowing what to do and how to get through games. I would say Inzaghi did more in that season thsn ZZ did.

As good as ZZ was, he did more in 4 weeks at Euro 2000 than he did in his last 2 seasons at Juve.

Fuck PSG, Qatar, and Verratti :agree:

hi back i guess, though i have no idea how that relates to my question, that milan had 6-7 WC players and played in an arguably less competitive CL. the other 2 must have spent a billion to get there. You have to be in super denial to think we have anywhere near the weapons to seriously compete in CL.

This Baselli kid from Atalanta, does anyone have an opinion of him?

Personally I've seen very few games, simple as he hasn't started all that much. That might be an indication of his talent on one hand, but we all know how Serie A coaches can be with young players, and Atalanta have a key player in Cigarini playing in his favoured position.

we`ve won (or are winning) the race for Kempf it appears..

"The 18-year-old, currently of Eintracht Frankfurt, has agreed to link up with the Serie A champions, though the finishing touches are still being put on a deal. Kempf may still return to Frankfurt for the second half of the season on loan before sealing a permanent transfer to Turin in the summer.
However, SportsDirect News understands that a number of Premier League sides were interested in the talented youngster as well, with Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea all missing out on his signature."

We can compete and win, but it is going to be incredibly difficult. The best team doesn't always win, and Bayern's absolute dominance last year was an exception, not the rule.

We are never going to be among the top 3-4 teams fighting for the trophy, but it is not as impossible as some might think.

I just can't accept that we should start every season with the mentality "We can't win it, so fuck it." We have to show more ambition, belief, and desire. If we get as far as the Semis, anything becomes possible ;)
