I think that 5 players for 3 CM's isn't enough, unless we get Hernanes at CAM, who could also play CM when needed. And get Diamanti as a backup CAM and its all good.

Vidal - Radja - Pogba
(Marchisio) (Asa)

Hernanes
(Diamanti)

And if Asa and Hernanes start in midfield and Ogbonna or Chiellini at DL, you can change to a 352 during the match easily. 4312/352 is the way to go without pirlo.

What about going for a new forward?
Falcao is on the road to nowhere in Monaco and his movement will certainly make waves. For example, if he goes to Chelsea chances are Lukaku is gonna leave...

If we manage to cash on Vucinic+Gio/Quag by the summer we would have:Tevez, Llorente, Berrardi, Gio/Quag

Gio/Quag I consider the injury insurance forward. So unless we are changing formation we would definitely need to go for a striker. And if we want to keep improving as a team (which I bet Conte will insist on) this has to be one very good forward.

I can't believe Mata is not playing at Chelsea. He's a fantastic player a true magician. I'd love to have him here but his pricetag is going to be insane.

Selling Vucinic shouldn't be an option. All I'd do in this case I would sell Giovinco and bring back Berardi if we'll have no money during the summer which is very likely considering we'll have to pay 18m for Nainggolan.

Hernanes would be fantastic but Lazio will ask for the moon knowing them. He'd be a fantastic CAM or even regista for Conte.

vidal, pirlo, pogba, nainggolan, marchisio

I think that's enough. we could think about hernanes if pirlo doesn't end up renewing.

It depends on what Conte is planning to play next season. If we stick to 352 we're fine with just adding Radja. If he wanted to play 433 we'll need RWF. In case he'd want to use 4312 Hernanes would suit us like a glove.

Call me crazy but Diamanti is being underated here as he is better than Hernanes for the CAM choice
If we want someone to navigate the game then Hernanes would be the better choice but I dont think CAM is the place to put him in
Anyway I dont think Hernanes is good enough.
If we look to a direct Pirlo replacement we need to look at someone who can do what Pirlo can do for us what Ribery can do for France (although France arent doing very well IMO) what Xavi does for Spain.
I admit I didnt watch Verratti much but if he is as similar to Pirlo as being said we should consider signing him even if he could cost more than we would like to spend

Hernanes has said time and time again that his preferred role is Regista. It's not his fault he's also good at attacking too. He's calm and can spread great balls across the pitch. You need to be calm and not erratic in that role.

Verratti is fantastic but good luck convincing sheiks they should sell him to us.

Diamanti better than Hernanes? Sorry but I can't see it.
Read the whole sentence not just the part you would like to refer to - I wrote Diamanti would be better than Hernanes in the AM role...

Hernanes is more suitable in a Pirlo role but still I dont think he is good enough to be Pirlo`s replacement
He is a good player there is no doubt about it and he will do ok in that role in our squad but he will not give anything needed in order to take us to the next level

Selling Vucinic is always on the table. Some say as soon as January. We are talking about a player that has a big salary, high depreciation and unsuitable character for the bench. Now keep in mind - we won't force anyone out, but should we receive a 'fair' offer (~15mln Euro imho) he is gone.

I expect Merda to go for Nainggolan TBH.. Not sure how rich they are suddenly
Yeah. That's that with us and Nainggolan. No point in getting into a bidding war with Merda - they own the market for this guy. Not to mention he would be a starter with them and behind Marchisio with us.

We have 3 top B2B mids - Vidal, Pogba, Marchisio. We might get another one, but I would prefer him to be a youngster, happy to put games in the primavera and excited about any playing time. No need to spend big here.

In case we're keeping 3-5-2 - obviously we need a DLP. Even if Pirlo signs for another year. In case we are changing formation we'd have to shuffle everything anyway...

if we are going to play a 4-3-1-2 then the most realistic targets are hernanes and diamanti (pjanic and pastore could be possible but its unlikely that we want them). the other options are keep the 3-5-2, or 4-3-3. for 4-3-3 tevez would be on the left (yes i know he is not a winger but IF conte wants a 4-3-3 then tevez IS a winger) + we would need 2 wingers (one to start and the other for rotation). the best we could do with our limited budget is one of nani, sanchez(if for sale) and cuadrado + menez for free.
