Its always the same dilemma... either use all the cash for one world class player or divide that money on less than awesome players. I opted for the latter since these are mere bench options. If a world class left wingback became available like Marcelo or something then I'd take your one player big buy route.
I wasnt exactly answering to joe's hypothetical question but in reality i know we're never gonna spend 25m on one player.
Atleast there's nothing wrong in planning some future moves already. Its hard to find quality wingers in Jan who wont cost a lot.

Fuck Kuyt and Evra. Go for Radja, some talented LWB from the Eredivisie, and a RWF from Ligue 1 or the Bundesliga. Invest in promise, not washed up old hogs.
Like I said, invest in talent. Kuyt and Evra are past it. Moreover, Evra is one arrogant, self entitled prick, so we should stay the fuck away from him.
Investing in youth has its risks. You dont know what you are buying and you'd need to buy plenty of youngsters so that one of them turns out to be good. On the upside, once you have a good youngster you'll have that role filled for many years to come.
On the other hand with old players you know exactly what you are getting so there is little risk involved and you get to have an experienced player's presence in the dressing room but ofcoarse injuries are the risk and the general decline that happens with time in the player's performance.
If we have time then we should definitely invest in some youngsters in that position but since we need someone as soon as possible then I think its okay to buy and old player on a one or two year contract as long as that player still performs at an acceptable level.
Wishlist:
Monaco's winger Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco, I know, he is Belgian, but he is also impressive for Monaco lately.
One of the few still able to hold his place after the promoted from Ligue 2.

I never said they would, but he would be on my wishlisht AND, if he would be sold, they have money enough to buy a new one
That is the advantage of big money teams, a player is sellable because they can afford another one, the disadvantage is that they don't need the cash, so their players will cost (too) much
