We could barely afford Tevez & Ogbonna. We had to sell Giaccherini and Matri.

What makes you guys think we can drop 40M on Mata? It's just not going to happen.

we also had to pay for half of isla and asamoah. and whatever else. the point is to buy one player per year, ala bayern.

We'll always have expenses. There's no way we can dance with the big boys financially. Every year people think we can drop 25-40M on one player, and it has never happened since Marotta has taken over.

Breaking the bank for Juventus is spending 15-20M, whereas other clubs throw away that kind of money.

We'll never buy Mata. It's just not realistic to think so.

But on the bright side, with all these rumours about Draxler and Mata, I think Juventus may be looking for an AM to replace Pirlo and turn away from the regista role. With Pirlo's contract expiring soon, regardless if its extended or not, the next couple of years will be exciting times.

Problem is we have a lot of defenders and strikers, which makes it hard to go to a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 without changing excessive players. Hopefully the management will ditch the 3-5-2 next season. It will require a lot of transfers to do it.

Also as the above said 1 big player a year is what we must aim to do, we wont be there for 2-3 seasons minimum though.

Mata would be an adequate replacement for Xavi, considering how high up the pitch Barca are standing.
I agree Mata would probably be a good fit for Barca in general, but I'm not sure if I agree with this statement. I think he's too attacking to play Xavi's role.

“Juan has to learn to play the way I want to play,” explained Mourinho.

“He has to be more consistent, has to be more participative when the team loses the ball, and I think it is not his fault. It is just a consequence of the way he played in the last few years.”
Mourinho on Mata, sounds like a sentiment Conte might share. Too bad because I would love to see Mata here if he's available.

We need a backup LWB/LM, a Pirlo replacement(if Pogba is not to be deployed there), and then, only then, we can start looking for a an AM ala Mata/Draxler

Fuck backups, if you can get a world class player like Mata, you do it, and we do need attacking midfielder like that anyways.

$#@! backups, if you can get a world class player like Mata, you do it, and we do need attacking midfielder like that anyways.
The absence of Asamoah is crucial for us. Playing a 352 looks like 532 when the wingbacks are as poor as Peluso and De Ceglie.. And who would make space for an AM anyway? Tevez or Vucinic? Singing a big name player ala Mata means a tactical change or rotation, benching either Vucinic or Tevez.

Benching Vunicic for Mata is an absolute no brainer for our current formation, but as others said we could play a host of other options, 4-3-3, or 3-4-1-2 and so on.

I'm with you on this one. It's not like we can buy him but when you have a chance to get a player like Mata it doesn't matter if he fits Juve system or not.

We need WC players no matter if they fit our 352 or not. If we got Mata Conte would just change formation to accommodate him because our team would benefit from it a lot. Much more than buying a backup for Pirlo or Asamoah anyway.
