You can not hold a player against his will, not in this football climate... And not when he can earn about 2-3 million extra elsewhere.
My guess is Vidal himself is afraid to force a transfer after the club put the ball in his camp. Supporters will turn their back on him. I wouldn't mind him leaving for Real Madrid or whatever, but not a team without CL or even EL. That's just sad.
Yes you can, other big clubs have and Juve must too. Selling him for whatever price will set a precedent and Juve will be seen as a selling club. If Vidal goes now, I will be shocked if Pogba doesn't within the next 2 years. We have seen it with Arsenal and Dortmund, it will start a viscous cycle where players will force transfers. It's not ideal for Juve to sell Vidal under any circumstances imo.

Yes, like Llorente for example. Turned out well for them. You can only lose with such actions. You have to pay an unmotivated player and see his transfer price dropping faster than an Israelian bomb.
A selling club doesn't start with 1 or even 2 players. A club that takes care of her players' wishes is mich more attractive.

There's no way in hell we can replace Vidal literally, so we should just use our current midfielders. Asamoah > Some shitty scrub for 20M

So yeah let's use Vidal money in other areas. I.E SOME F*CKING WINGERS who can put in a cross.

Tbh I could live with that a month ago. Getting 60m for Vidal and buying for the cash Griezmann (30m) and maybe Markovic (25m) and we'd have young and very talented wingers at last. Rabiot for rotation and Asa takes Vidal's place.

Now I just can't see how we can reinvest the money. Most interesting players are already gone I think.

Yeah, its actually very easy to see why, so i'll enlighten for those who have $$ in their eyes and want the sale.

First of all,for the money of a sale, we cannot get a player(s) that gives anything close to the impact vidal did.

People will say "2001 zidane" but thats quite wrong. Wages werent the issue now that they were back then, Serie a isnt as attractive as it was and it doesnt have as good players as back then.

The Martinez+Isco is a good example. Two players from a different league, playing teams that currently are better then juventus with a bigger reputation.
Do they even want to come here ? On a wage we can afford ?

Vidal wont get an offer much over 50mil. Bayern paid 40something mil for Martinez. They'll want to recuperate most of that. Isco wont be wanting to leave real. He'll need to be convinced to come to a team that just sold its biggest player ? And madrid will ask a stupid amount of cash.

In the past, juventus was a huge name. Players and agents would leverage a deal with their club to come here. Right now thats not happening, and thats a big difference.

We cant sign anyone that has Vidals impact. So we wont sell him, because it will be a big loss for us.

Added to that, if juventus get brandished the "seller team" mark like jukazem said, is making it far worse. Players will think even lower of us, and the likes of Pogba and Coman if he breaks trough, will want to move cause juventus isnt seen anymore as the final destination, but a trainstation to the next stop.

A selling team is not one who sells 1 player whether it's your best or not. ManU weren't labelled a selling team when they sold Ronaldo... Every team cuts a few players lose at some point...
The rest I can agree with, but if Vidal asks to leave, we can't stop him and think we won this battle...

Selling your best player to united for a normal fee, makes you a seller team

Selling a player for 80+mil, makes you a good negotiator

and that was 5 years ago. that same Ronaldo from United would leave for 120-150M if he was sold this year. we need to take money in the 80-90M range if we were to sell Vidal next summer. anything less would be terrible.

Vidal needs to stay at all costs. He's arguably the best centre mid in the world and he's ours. I don't care if he likes United or not, he's clearly happy here and it's in our best interest to keep him. This isn't comparable to the Zidane transfer because in the current market there aren't enough available world class players that we could realistically sign to compensate for losing Vidal. The names being thrown around like Jovetic, Lavezzi and Isco aren't going to improve us the way Buffon, Thuram and Nedved did. I'd love to get a proper winger or trequartista but not if it means losing Vidal.

And look at the many cases where a player goes for a big fee, and clubs automatically add 50% to the price of players you want from them

That's why you've gotta do player swaps if you can.

Unfortunately, with United, all the potential players swaps are ****.

I would imagine though, the implied premium for players received by Juve in a player swap would be less than the one sold given that we'd be selling the "big ticket".

For example with PSG I'd do a Vidal for Lucas + Verratti type of deal or Vidal for Varane + Isco (that may be a stretch lol, but just giving an illustration). I think that's the only way you can really win, especially given that if you sold Vidal for $$$, chances are the players you bought would also look for big pay raises as well.

Bayern lost Kroos for 30 Mio. EUR to Real. Are they a selling team?!

Kroos wanted out, cuz of higher wages in Madrid.
did Bayern sell Ballack, did Bayern sell Ribery?

also Kroos wasn't even part of the invincible Bayern team of 12/13... Bayern peaked after his injury in the first leg against Juventus. imo Kross should have been benched in 4-2-3-1 until Schweinsteiger retires. He isn't nearly as important to Bayern as Vidal is to Juve. Vidal is Juve's best player.

If Vidal leaves, its because Vidal wants to leave. It's clear that as long as he wants to stay here we'll keep him but if he demands wages like the supposed Manchester United offerings of 8-10M or he's going to MU then he is as good as gone. We cannot afford that.

I would be heartbroken if we lose Vidal, he's the soul of this team really. But like Marotta says at the end of the day its the will of the player that matters the most. If he wants to leave, I support him and wish him all the best. I just hope we are compensated well for this transfer.

I'd also like to say that I'm pretty sure Vidal is gone. Or at least there's an ongoing deal in the background. Even if he doesn't leave this summer, he was definitely talking to MU and working on something. Everytime he was asked about his future he was so coy and ambiguous. He has never come out and said "I am definitely staying at Juventus. I am very happy here." It has always been like "I am a Juve player for now. I'm not sure on my future." In so many words.

Anyways, I hope he stays but I think he's pushing for a move and I don't blame him. Even if MU doesn't have CL this season, they are fucking MU. Of course a player would love to play for them still, and earn double the wages while they're at it.

It's all about the money.
