Not to keen on including Ogbonna in the deal, but we do have to shed some weight and this would be a pretty great way of doing it. We're trimming the wage budget, cutting lose some deadwood and really improving the squad in the process.

If Viola get all those players they're going to be a pretty serious contender next season.
Yeah but if they keep Cuadrado and Savic. :p Otherwise they'd be weaker.

I think this ogbonna selling talk is to try to get ~18m for him, replace him with someone who costs 8m, and use the 10m somewhere else (Sanchez?). We have a lot of CB already.

If one of those EPL clubs comes around with +20m offer we should consider it, there are cheaper solutions on the market and we might invest in other areas. Ogbonna is not a sweeper and most of his poor performances were due to him being used there. Otherwise we're talking about decent defender, at 26 yo there's still room for improvement. We shouldn't expect better from someone who's barely used in the first place and when he's given chance he was placed out of his preferred position. In situations when it was required an actual defending he seemed capable enough.

if Ranocchia arrives, and all our CBs stay, we would have 6. it would either mean we stay witha three man defense, or Conte will use Ogbonna as a LB and Caceres as a RB (backups obviously). that way we would have Barzagli, Chiellini, Bonucci, Ranocchia as our CBs, Licht and Caceres as RBs, Asamoah/new LB and Ogbonna as LBs. this would be pretty good as Conte would have offensive and defensive fullbacks on both sides...

Ogbonna is not a LB or a sweeper. He's a CB in a 4 man defense or maybe with some more experience a CB in a 3 man defense.

If we're bringing another CB for under 10M, then sell Ogbonna and use the difference in other areas. Or sell Ogbonna outright for 13M or more and buy a winger.

I'm against dumping him though.

yes i know. hes best when used as a classic CB in a back4. i was just imagining what it would look like in case we get a CB and dont sell any. but it still depends on where Conte is planning to use him and in what system next season (if he stays)

Reading the Italian papers, it seems we value both Zaza and Berardi A LOT. It could just be rumours, but it seems like we really want Berardi back and don't think of Zaza as a bargaining chip.

Am i the only one that wouldnt mind losing Ogbonna, if we replace him with Ranocchia?
Fixed :D

 Fuck Ranocchia. This obsession with this faggot is beyond bewildering. I used to only dislike him slightly, but now that people are jizzing over him coming here, I'm starting to hope he contracts some illness or suffers a serious injury that hampers him for the rest of his career.

Ranocchia +Bonucci was a great duo with clear strenghts that synergised so well, they erased each other weaknesses.

The only issue, like many times with italians, is that they shine in a specific system, and outside that, its alot less.
Think Zambrotta at juve, and at barcelona.

Ranocchia is a beast in anticipating and 1v1 in close quarters. He's pretty agile, quick and aggressive, but he's a slow runner. He's pretty bad in open space.
If you have well organised defence playing as a unit, and a defender that covers the space behind him, ranocchia suddenly becomes a monster.
Add to that his ballplaying capabilities and great aerial skills (wich we sorely lack tbh), and you see why conte wants him

Example :Chiellini and bonucci on their own, are average. Then you add barzagli who brings a brain to the defence, and suddenly you got potentially the best central defence in the world.

Conte is a master tactician. He has a different approach from the blatant idiot mazarri. Mazzarri never bothers that much with his defence. Plays ranocchia like a stopper without backup. Because he wants to get his fancy system in place.

Conte doesnt do that, he molds the system to get most out of his players, with an eye for perfect balance and organisation.

I'm confident, if Conte wants Ranocchia (conte must believe in the player), that he can let him play as if he was Montero, with twice the size, and half the lunacy/red cards
I haven't seen someone being so many times wrong in a single post.

Yes, with Barzagli man marking his attacker on the other side of the pitch, Chiellini suddenly got better. It's like telepathy or something.

Chiellini average lol.
