Why are we paying so much for Iturbe?
because that's what verona wants and thats what we're going to have to cough up...its not his ultimate value, its what verona wants for their asset...i dont think we're acting on a whim here as we would have done up a list of players with the certain technical and economic parameters that the coach and club can agree on..then they go out and try to get their targets...

only juve know what is possible and how these transfers fit in the overall economic and technical scheme of things..we can only guess

Iturbe and Rabiot and i already call the mercato a successful one even without any other transfer moves.
We get that much needed 5th CM in Rabiot and finally we get dem FLAIR & FANCY's in Iturbe :tuttosport:

others cost 35/40m+ without 5m instalments for a billion years. :D

oh wait roma offer 15m + bonuses for Yarmolenko.

Beppe!
So we overpay an unknown player? No one other than us is interested in him. I mean when we got Vidal we were competing with Bayern and we ended up paying much less.

This deal has bullshit written all over it.

True but we need a bench CF as well. This summer it looks much different comparing to the others. It seems Conte got what he wanted: if management can't bring him WC players he requested young players he could work with to build stars himself. Just take a look at how we operate: We're after Morata and Iturbe for quite a long time and we still didn't change our targets. Coman, Rabiot and Sturaro are very young as well. Take a look at average age of players we're buying this summer.

It almost looks like Conte points his finger to a youngster and Marotta buys him even if one costs a lot. We're spending big money on Iturbe, Morata won't be cheap and Sturaro wasn't cheap either considering his age and number of appearances in Serie A.

Assuming the Rabiot and Iturbe transactions go through....

Spend: Coman (0), Rabiot (0), Iturbe (20m + Quags), Sturaro (5.5m)
Proceeds: Immobile (8m), Zaza (7m), Vucinic (6m)

So far: NET SPEND around 6m. Impact on wages is positive though - Coman & Rabiot would be on <0.5m each I reckon and Iturbe would be on 1.5m = <2.5m - Vucinic wages were 3m and Quags was also around 2m so saved >2.5m in wages while adding 3 players and losing 2.

If we play 433 we would currently have Giovinco, Coman, Tevez, Llorente, and Iturbe. Squad would be short a left back (as Peluso looks like he is going to Sassuolo in exchange for Marrone who will either be loaned out or used as a bargaining tool for another player) and another central striker.

No idea who the left back would be but I am sure Marotta wants to pay 2m to Real for Morata with the option to purchase with another 18m at the end of the season.

Wouldn't be surprised if Marotta sacrifices Ogbonna for a left back of equal value. Also expect Isla's 50% to be sold on. After all that, in terms of transfer fees, we would be square and the wage bill will be slightly better (also accounting for Pogba raise).

Squad could be:

GK: Buffon, Storari, Rubinho
DEF: Lichsteiner, Caceres, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini, CB (loan or youngster), LB (transfer value 10-15m)
C. MID: Vidal, Pirlo, Pogba, Asamoah, Marchisio, Rabiot
Wingers: Iturbe, Coman, Pepe, Giovinco
Strikers: Tevez, Llorente, Morata

Marotta is offloading unwanted players pretty well this mercato, he's not being himself :p
yep, i think he is doing great right now.
and to be fair, i think there has been a lot of unwarranted criticism over the last few years.
i don´t think he is bad at selling in general but we had some really strange situations with thiago and melo in particular...
there is just nothing you can do if a player, who basically got kicked from the squad, with high wages (that marotta wasn´t responsible for) pushes for one club and one club only, rejecting everything else and not giving a single fuck about juve.
it´s quite similar with players like vucinic or quag. they are not good enough for most teams who can pay their high wages and we had to give them that wages back then when we just finished 7th...

and let´s not forget that :beppe: somehow got 11m for matri
a shame the price probably didn´t rise to 12m... hard to believe they triggered the bonus-clause ^^

Verona bought him for 15m, asking for 20m + quag is very reasonable for them. He has already adapt well with italian football and reduce our risk compare to if we buy player from outside of italy.

Also, milan is ready to pay 25m for him, so its "take it or leave it" deal for us. Unless we can find a better player with similar or less price (ex: shaqiri), I think we should sign iturbe.
