For real, though, the mercato will hinge on whether or not we end up selling Pogba. The funds and/or player provided from that sale could go a long way. However I'm not sure I wouldn't rather have Paul running our midfield for the next few years. It's win-win, really. The only drawback with not selling Pogba is possibly not having enough money to make the right signings that we need to move forward.

And as for the formation debate: it's surely less of a question of changing the formation to try and improve our style of play in Europe and more of us thinking ahead post-Pirlo. Unless we sign a new regista we are going to have to rethink our setup in a couple of years. In that case it may be an idea to start looking towards a 4231 or some other formation. The main problem being the lack of any decent and realistic left back options on the market.
One would think that keeping Pogba is the priority and any splurge resulting from his sale would be Plan B.

As for the formations. Juve aren't going to change from 3-5-2 to 4-3-3 in one summer. What they need is players that allow them to move from one formation to the other when it suits them. Adding a Cerci-like player, bringing back Berardi (or another young player that has impressed this season), purchasing a central midfielder (it's pretty obvious that the midfield is tired), and if the funds are available and the price is right; purchasing a more higher profile versatile winger (any winger Juve spends decent money on needs to be able to play multiple positions) would be a good bit of business assuming Juve don't have some cash stashed away for a crazy Arsenal like purchase.

It already happened ZZ. I was disappointed too.

Can we buy Cuadrado's half from Udinese without Fiorentina's permission? I'm not so sure that's possible.
Afaik, we can totally make a bid, but if they accept, and fiorentina makes the same bid, they have to accept this aswel

I always wonder how people determine the acceptable profits of other teams.
Its one of the biggest issues here. People claiming what teams should sell their players for, or what price marotta should get em for.

Well, unless the team wants to sell, they can ask whatever the hell they want.
If shaqiri wants to stay at bayern, bayern doesnt want to sell him, they can ask 500 million for the player for all they care.

Someone should tell Rakib that in the summer of 2014 Shaqiri goes to Man City for 20 million euros.
Some players at city could be of interest to bayern. Its actually not a bad suggestion tbh

Stongly agree with this, and for this reason i'm entirely for signing Cerci.

He could play winger if we want, but in our standard formation, he can just as well play the tevez role

One quesion Aaron. Considering you follow the EPL, do you think that IF (big if) we sign nani, we could use him in a supporting role in a 352 (as in, not a pure winger, but free role support striker) ?
because if he could, it would be so very nice, and we would be halfway actually having a winger worth our shirt, if conte gets him in his old form

Agreed. I would say that purchases we make this summer will likely be part of a two year plan to change the team and prepare it for life after Pirlo. Players like Cerci, Berardi and Immobile fit the bill very well in these transitional years. Even besides that I think.they would be good signings anyway who can add a lot to our team

Did not know that. If that's true, Cuadrado should be our number one priority.

Cuadrado, Pereyra, and either Immobile/Osvaldo, and bunch of youth investments.

Would be perfect IMO.

I'm not certain. But i think it was like that.

Thing is, how much has the viola disease spread troughout Cuadrado ?
Would he accept us ?

He would accept us, but its a matter for Fiorentina. I don't think Marotta will aggravate the situation we have with them by going behind them. It still depends on Fiorentina.

I would like to see RVP join us, like a similar deal for Tevez. He and Tevez upfront for a couple of season in Europe can lead us to glory.

This 3-5-2 is the best fromation for our players currently, however it still lack some valuable assets.

for one, i would like to see another striker that can create something for himself. i like Llorente but his effectivity depends mostly on the 2 players around him creating something. So a player like RVP, Ibrahimovic, Suarez, Rooney etc. would be good to have. the problem is, there are hardly any of those in our range and a younger and cheaper one could be good (i have no idea who tbh).

another thing this 3-5-2 lacks is "different wingbacks". Licht and Asa are really great, they work hard and are good in defense. the problem is, they arent very effective when attacking. they make great offensive plays from time to time but it would be good to have 2 players of around equal quality, but more offensive than those 2. Cuadrado would be perfect for the right side. Valencia could be a good wingback too. the thing im afraid of is we could get Biabiany :scared: because hes a winger/wingback too... for the left side Lulic seems the most realistic and our only target (what ever happened to those Wakaso links :D) and he would be a good addition. you also need to take the fact that these players are wingers (mainly) and they would also allow us great tactical flexibility besides being great backups for Licht/Asa.

next part is the CM. two things bother me here. Vidal and Pogba are great, but i would want a different player as a backup here. a player which is more a AM than a CM (Hamsik, Arda, Teixeira, Kroos, Pereyra :D, Pastore). they would offer us something different than Vidal and Pogba when played and we could also rest Pirlo more and still have a creative player in the middle. i also think our passes are not very good. Licht ans Asa often make good offensive runs but they need to stop waiting to the ball to come. the passes to the flanks seem a bit slow and behind. thats why a great passer here would be good. the pass Tevez made to Vidal before the goal today for example. i would like more of these passes for the player to run at the ball and not to wait for the ball to some to him (if you understand what i mean :D)...

i also wanted a more defensive "regista" for when we defend a lead. it seems like we ficed that with Marchisio but i was thinking more of a player like De Jong, Fernando, Javi Martinez etc. a big and strong DM that can stop any AM/SS and who is good at stoping counter attacks. but im OK with Marchisio too so this part is not that important anymore.

so if we can fix these "lacks" our current 3-5-2 has it would be a great formation and even those who are against it would accept it ;)

The problem with RVP is that he's on 10M pounds per year the last time I checked. Theres 0% chance we'll carry those wages and there's 0% he'll take a significant enough pay cut for us to be able to afford him.

we agreed a deal with him and his agent 2 years ago, but failed to reach an agreement with Arsenal. so wages would not be a big problem, as it would be that he doesent want to leave United and they dont want to sell him...

1) Agreed, it's insane how much shit people make up and then how surprised they are when people call them out.

2) That was a FM joke.:D

3) Nani doesn't really have the head to manage for than one role on a consistent basis. I could see him playing as a supporter in the 3-5-2 on occasion, but not as an everyday role. Probably coming of the bench. But for his price and wage, there are probably better options to add versatility. Someone who could play Winger and Wingback and do it well would be an ideal purchase.

Depends on Moyes summer plans, and how he accommodates Mata. There have been some slight noise that RVP isn't happy and missing out in Europe.
Valencia is also a good option on the right . There isn't much good left sided players in the market these days anyway.

But we definitely need a winger and a good one off course. Not necessary to change the formation permanently, but as an option for tactical change. Someone from the bench that allows Conte to be more flexible with his tactics.

An attacker, a winger, a CM would be a needed addition. Anything extra is a bonus.

last season he played alot as a RB when Rafael was injured. a winger that can play fullback :D. he has wingback written all over him :tuttosport:

Whats your opinion about buying lulic, candreva, a CM (Pereyra?), immobile and another out of favor top ST if the chance presents itself?

Apart from Candreva, sure. They give us nice bench options and tactical flexibility with diffrent formations.
If we manage to keep Pogby, i dont really mind we have a quiet mercato.

I do would like us to get a potential big class winger in a lesser period, such as Nani, that can also play Tevez role in a 352.
Any winger based formation require highly quality wingers, and we cannot get that in one year

Wel, in my opinion, there are 2 types of players we should look for.

- players capable of playing wingback and winger
- players capable of playing winger or supporting forward in a 352

This is important because they must fit in the current formation, but also allow us to move to wingbased formations if it hardcounters the opponent.

And like this, IF Pogba would get sold, wich i hope not, then we can a true winger and switch 4231.

Out of all scenarios that one is no way happening IMO and here is why: Pirlo is gonna sign a new contract which will give him 3.5/4mln per season which only means he's going to be our first team player, at least in majority of the matches. Also, Pirlo should not play in 2 man midfield, he'd get crushed, he needs two guys next to him so he can do his job. We'd play 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 IMO.

Oh and I forgot.. Tevez surely won't be playing as a LW and no way we're gonna bench Llorente.
