Hernanes is not a Pirlo replacement. Hernanes is more of an attacking midfielder or a playmaker. We wont get him and enough of this pirlo replacement. It is way too hard to find one. It is probably easier to just play a formation without a dpl.
Hernanes prefers the "Pirlo role" sitting deep & shiit like that. But it's not his fault he's good at going forward neither.

I think Ledesma plays the "Pirlo-role" rather than Hernanes. He doesnt really plays so deep I think. He wanders into deeper positions often though.

Look we will never be able to find another Pirlo, I don't see why we couldn't just move forward with a midfield of Marchisio-Pogba-Vidal in either a 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 or the 3-5-2 still.

Do they though? Pogba is fairly creative as are the other 2, not to mention all three are goal threats. It would depend on the strikers a bit more though.

I defo think Vidal-Pogba-Marchisio could work and would love to see it happen. It requires more creativity on the wings than what we have currently, though in my opinion.

One of the main reasons we're so reliant on the architect at the moment, I think, is because we can't really move it to the wings and expect something extraordinary to happen. It has to come from him or from a very slow build up where we continually manipulate space and create overloads.

Pogba in the middle is much more solid defensively, not devoid of creativity and obviously not the lynchpin that Pirlo is. But with the added option of switching it to creative players on the wings it would be pretty lethal, I should think.

They are goal threats but it's not like they are always looking for a through ball. We must see more of Pogba in Pirlo's role to judge to be honest, I've watched him in u21 wc where he was situated very deep on the pitch and his main duties were controlling the midfield so he wasn't very creative.
352 is the system for now because of the Pirlo vision, without him it would be much more complicated for our 2 stricte offensive players to attack, especially with ours not so offensive oriented wingbacks.

Lets say Pirlo retires next season.

We would have Pogba, Marchisio, Vidal, Marrone, Asa, and Padoin as cm. The only players out of their that are kind of creative or have can make opportunities are Vidal, Pogba, Marchisio, Marrone. Even though we play a 3-5-2 mainly because of the defensive side of the formation and also the fact Bonucci has some nice passing, and it allows Pirlo more time and space when on the ball. But we wont have Pirlo and that is when I think we should ultimately switch formations and tactics. We can play a formation of a 4-3-1-2( which doesnt provide enough width), we could play a 4-2-3-1(which is probably one of the best formations) and we can play a 4-3-3. However we would obviously need some purchases. If we were to play a 4-3-1-2, we would probably need a lb(unless people are convinced of keeping asa there even though he played there maybe once last season), and a attacking midfielder or trequartista of some sort. The midfield would be comprised of Vidal-Pogba-Marchsio. If we were to switch to a 4-2-3-1 we would need a lb, and 2 wingers and possibly an attacking midfielder. It would probably be pogba-vidal as the holding midfielders and possibly marchisio as the attacking midfielder. If we switch to a 4-3-3 we need a rw and a lw, and also a lb.

We need 2-3 purchases if we do plan on playing a non-Pirlo dependent formation. I dont see the 3-5-2 working too well without the dpl. I would rather see a more advanced playmaker than continue to look for a vice Pirlo when there are non and you have to spend probably close to 30m for Veratti.

It's also entirely possible that we'll "simply" move toward formations that aren't dependent on the Pirlo type registas, which are kind of a dying breed.

The future/present seems to be something like holding midfielders that can play a bit of which we've got a prime example in Pogba.
I hope we get Hamsik for it. :xfinger:

Buffon

Barzagli-Bonucchi-Chiellini

Lichtsteiner-Vidal-Pogba-Asamoah

Hamsik

Tévez-Llorente

Asamoah is the lwb for the next decade.

Pogba will play in.marchisios position once he matured.
In pirlos position we can play a regista or move it further up and have a player like hernanes or example

Coentrao, Di Maria and 60M is even better than 100M and even more hard to believe.

Bale is not that much better than Di Maria IMO.

Pogba plays on the right not the left, which is why Vidal has to shift to the left when Pogba is playing. Also we will not continue with the a 3-5-2 without pirlo

Bale is garbage. He shouldnt even be worth 10m

Yeah, I said something along those lines last season.

If Di Maria had been put in the Spurs team and had the whole system built to suit him, I could see him doing very well.

Whereas, at Real Madrid, he's really a supporting player who is asked to perform certain jobs for the good of the team - often to the detriment of his own chances of being decisive in attack.

Manchester Evening News are reporting Pepe is set to join Manchester City in a £15m deal while Aleksandar Kolarov is interesting Turkish champions Galatasaray. City are holding out for £6m while Gala's last offer was £4m.

If this is true, I dont understand why we arent going after Kolarov
