Wow. That would be amazing. I love it. Just swap Higuain for Llorente and that's very realistic.

:tuttosport:
But it wouldn't really make it the German model anymore.

If anything, a physical strong but less mobile player like Gomez lost his place to a much more dynamic and hard worker like Mandzukic. It's strikers like the latter who dominate the world of football and not those slower big oaks anymore imo.

Higuain is the way to go forward with the rest of the world.

I love that tactic but the on the wings we need pace. And jovetic or diamanti play better in the AM position.

That's very relative. It depends on the rest of the team! Give me Trezeguet with Nedved and Camoranesi on the wings, and he will score more goals than Mandzukic.

That's why I remain a bit skeptical on the Llorente transfer. I really do like a strong physical player considering they make football easier and gives a team the possibility to hoof the ball forward a la Stoke City but in Europe you don't really see players those big oaks dominating anymore. I think their very useful on the bench and could give you the edge in a lot of matches but I would rather see Higuain playing than Llorente.

I would love to have him over for 5 million. He is an excellent ball playing defender the last i saw him playing. But not sure if his defending skills and injury issues are the reason Wenger no longer plays him.

these type of players are fundamental for a team.... look at Zlatan and Cavani : 2 BEAST players. and so it will be with llrorente. Higuain along side him will help to be a bit more creative and the wingers Asamoah and Lic will help to cross the ball to llrente and he will finish it with a header or acrobatic volley. I am sure he will score 20+ goals in Serie A next season. For example in the 2011-12 season he scored 29 goals in all competitions.

No doubt. There's no one model or formation that will win the Champions league. I can see this 'german model' becoming the new craze ala tika-taka.

Most of Europe's top teams play either 4231 or 433. And I suspect for good reason.

352 is common in Italy but nowhere else. That is fine - I am ok with that. But having said that, I really would like us to have more tactical diversity for 2 key reasons:

1) Bayern and to some extent Celtic showed us what happens when an attacking team is really keen to press our back 3. That rarely happens in Serie A. So we need a plan B for those reasons.

2) Pirlo. Juve's formation is built around him. That is not healthy and we were lucky that for the most part he has not been injury prone over the last 2 seasons. However, given his age etc we NEED A PIRLOLESS type of formation. Forget about getting a vice-Pirlo - they don't really exist (Verratti excluded). Pirlo's inclusion means a 4231 or flat 4 midfield is out of the question. the 4231 with Vidal& Pogba behind Diamanti, Marchisio, and Jovetic is a good example of a Pirloless formation.

We're in the same ship but i would prefer to have players with some pace on the wings. Nani is a good example.

Asamoah maybe can play at LB like he played in Ghana, right? and we would have Peluso too.
Chiellini doesn't like to play LB. So Bonucci will go to the bench;)

I honestly believe that Conte wanted us to absorb Celtics attacks. Sure, they had lots of shots and possession against us but they were low percentage opportunities. Conte prepared extremely well for that tie but not everyone seemed to get it. As for Bayern, they dominated Barca's back four just as much as they did our back three. They're just a very very good football side.

Celtic played at full tilt with zero brains, there was no point trying to match them and tiring ourselves.

just play smart and and hit them with precision.

Um, yes he did. They tired themselves out with low percentage chances and we won 3-0. They had no good chances through the centre due to our good defending, they only took potshots from 35 yards and made horrible crosses.
