Bayern needed to wait for several years to get Neuer until his contract was running out. It was a neverending story that lasted for three years and as i wrote they are always in need for some cash, so of course they couldnt afford to lose him on a Bosman. In addition, Bayern needed to pay a premium price for a keeper with just one year left. They paid 18m€ plus several add-ons so that Schalke will get around 25m at the end..some millions extra for the Bundesliga title this year and some million more if Bayern win CL.

Draxler has signed a contract in summer until 2016 and everything is perfect for him at Schalke at the moment. He isnt a finished or matured player like Götze, but he has made another step forward since Holtby left and playing as SS with freedom to roam and move around clearly suits him better. His finishing and energy is impressive, but he is sometimes missing the final pass or giving the ball away too easy and also lacks defensive awareness. He is a great prospect and all he needs is playing time on a high level and Schalke is offering that.

There are some promising youngsters coming from their reserves and the partnership Draxler with young starlet Max Meyer is mouth watering. so if Schalke can make some smart moves plus their youngsters then they are able to make the last step to a top club like Dortmund did. I could see them selling Papadopoulos, IF they want to generate some money to buy new players, as they have two good CB in Höwedes and Matip. Draxler will stay at least until 2014, but i think he ll get another improved offer and extend with probably buyout-clause for 2015 or 2016..just my 2 cents.

@Mark

Have you heard any more news about Vasco Regini? I saw him last night on the U21 and seemed pretty decent. Made a few mistakes, but I liked his hustle.

Lazio midfielder Hernanes is considering his future amid contract renegotiations, as Milan, Juventus and Premier League sides close in.

The Brazilian has been a key figure in their positive campaign, which has seen Lazio fight for a top four finish, reach the Europa League quarter-finals and the Coppa Italia Final.

His contract expires in June 2015 and talks have been continuing for an extension to 2017, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport the player is hesitant.

'The Prophet’ has several options on the table, starting from within Serie A at Milan and Juventus.

Premier League clubs are also thought to be interested in offering Hernanes a move to England.

Lazio are preparing a contingency plan and slapped a price-tag of €18m on the midfielder.

Neuer is shite. No idea why are you guys talking about him. We don't need Hernanes, are you guys blind? Sometimes I should get back into reality and see how stupid people here can be. But not today. Move along.

Don't need Hernanes now, but if Vidal ever leaves he'd be a great replacement. Hernanes could be great in this Juventus, even in Pirlo's spot with some small modifications in playing style.

    But for now completely irrelevant.

This talk of Hernanes would be unsettling, because it clearly indiciates that Vidal could be sold to raise money for a high profile forward. Especially with Pogba's emergence. Would be a huge mistake IMO. Id sell 2 out of the five forwards we have to raise some of that cash.

how is transfer fees = wages expense?

every single major transfer, every single one the wages were an issue, not the fee (llorente exception)

    aguero
    ibra
    suarez
    sanchez
    dzeko

    all problems with wages.

i don't think Sanchez' wages were an issue, more the fact Barca were willing to pay the asking price
It's probably taking both wages + transfer fee into account which would've been a very heavy investment.

Look at Llorente for instance.0m in transfer fee but 22m in wages. So total package would amount to just 22m in the end.I think the board are looking at that kind of investment where both transfer fee and wages come at a reasonable cost which probably explains why the board havent been able to(or hesitant) to make a big signing before they attain a strong financial position.
