That may depend on how well we do this season and how much we actually need to spend on other positions next mercato. I can't see Marotta spending 40M regardless of the circumstances though. Has he even spent over 20M on a player at Juve?
Indeed but like you said, i too can't see Marotta going shopping like that, it just isn't his way. It's safe to say Verratti and Thiago are players who are and will be out of our reach for years to come.

Don't think he ever did, iirc Asamoah was his most expensive buy and it cost us 15m.

its a bit moronic to compare fee's payd in years where we a pathetic turnover of less then 197, to this years 270.

Agnelli said we need 350 mill turnover to actually compete on the market. and thats true.

This year, due to continassa, there wasent liquid money. next year however, there will be. We could spend 25-30mil on one player, if he's worth it. sadly that usually means that some rich ass oil team, will also be interested and offers rediculous numbers

Yeah, right now it's Asa and Matri at 18M, but wasn't Isla slightly more expensive than Asa? I think technically, if we redeem the other half of Isla at the same cost as the first half (I think the number was 9.4M for his half), he'll become Beppe's most expensive transfer. :D

I don't know if this was already brought here.

But Marotta just gave a big interview. It's on tuttojuve.com. I guess they don't make up the guy's words, so I assume it's pretty legit.

He said Zuniga will not come, he's not in the market. Also they closed dealings with Inter for Isla a long time ago. As they couldn't find a good replacement for Isla, he will remain, is happy to remain and Conte wants him to remain.

Also he said that defence depth and attack were the positions which needed most reinforcements, and it's already done. So probably our mercato, regarding signings is closed. But he did say that if a good opportuniy comes along until September, it could be done.

He also said that 6 strikers of that level are too much. They want 5, and one of them being a youngster to fill in. And that the players' decision are the most important when it comes to transfers, implying that Matri and Quags didn't leave yet because they didn't like the teams that wanted them. But they will definitely be gone.

Summing it up, the squad is pretty much set, counting on Matri and Quags leaving.

He wasn't asked about Marrone, but I doubt he will leave. And now I'm pretty sure Conte will keep 352 both for the first team and the backup team:

Buffon; Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli; Asamoah, Marchisio, Pirlo, Vidal, Litch; Tevez, Llorente.

Storari; Peluso, Ogbonna, Caceres; De Ceglie, Padoin, Marrone, Pogba, Isla; Vucinic, Giovinco.

Rubinho, Pepe and a young striker to complete 25 players.

    My thoughts:

    - I'd like to see Conte changing the formation to 433 sometimes, at least in the backup team. 352 is becoming too predictable, with wingers that are not strong attacking. But it's not happening anytime soon, I guess.

    - Also I think a good lwb is really needed. But they keep searching for players in Italy where all club owners are pricks and hate Juve...

    - The first team is definitely improved. The 2nd team has valuable players as Ogbonna, Caceres, Marrone, Pogba, Isla, Vucinic, Giovinco.

    - De Ceglie will keep having his opportunities... this bothers me. He has proven a long long time ago that he's not Juve material. With Peluso and him in the left it's a pretty weak defensive side.

    - Now I deeply regret supporting Giac's sell. He would improve this team so much replacing Padoin in the backup's team mid. And Padoin could be a reliable wbl defensively, much more than De Ceglie.

    - I really really hope that Conte rests Pirlo much more this season. He has proven many times that 2 games a week is too much for him right now. And also Marrone needs to play to develop. It's a perfect opportunity. I hope Conte trusts him much more this season.

    - Giovinco once again will be deployed in the wrong position. He is by no means a CF, or even a AMC. He is a brainless player that however is very quick and shoots well. He needs to play as a winger to find his spot. That's why I was hoping that the backup team could play a 433, with him and Vucinic as wingers. Hopefully this could be done sometimes with Isla/Pepe on the right, and Gio on the left, Vucinic as a CF. Peluso and Padoin as full backs.

    - I don't have a good feeling about Vucinic... I don't think he will accept the bench/rotation role well. I can see his production decreasing. Maybe the right time to sell him is now.

That's pretty much what I think about the upcoming season. I have some concerns, but if Tevez and Llorente fit well, we'll be even more of a powerhouse. Teams like Napoli and Fiorentina improved vastly though. Milan is silent but doing good moves, like Roma. Inter will focus solely in Serie A. It will definitely be more tight than last season and the best season since pre-Calciopoli IMO.
