Because Drogba is an old overrated douchebag thinking about his wallet and we didn't need him. We only needed an injury insurance. If you really think he would've won us the games against Bayern, you're even more naive than I thought. Would've been a waste of money.
And we're not talking about a 6-month addition here. So stop comparing completely different things.

Say we get Sanchez, i wonder if we still would have enough money to get Verratti as well. Maybe selling some of the (by some i mean several) useless players we have.
Drogba was only really needed in the minds of people who thought we stood a chance in the CL with him. As I said back then, that was never the case.
Osvaldo is not needed at all, but offloading Quags for him is an upgrade anyway (denying that is just silly) AND would leave room for another upgrade. Rome wasn't built in a day...
Doubt it will happen. Clubs like Real M, Bayern, Man.C., Chelsea and PSG will have combined sum of 1 billion euros in transfer funds for this summer. We simply cannot compete with that. Even Arsenal will have more money for transfers (some sources say close to 70 million). Those are the clubs that can easily pay for Cavani, Falcao and Suarez. I doubt Marotta will even manage to bring in players like Sanchez or Jovetic.
Realistically this is what we can get: Sorensen, Poli and Osvaldo. Although Ibra could be an option, if he pushes for an PSG exit and if we agree terms with Raiola.
I'd rather not buy anyone than get these 3. Either world class quality or save the money. These 3 would add absolutely nothing to the team and we could easily win the scudetto with the same squad from this year + Llorente.
I really hope osvaldo is not a serious target...
I'd prefer destro which is younger and more talented IMO.
If we have Sanchez, lets buy/co own some young and talented players (like berardi) and our offensive line should be not bad. Even if I thing that we still miss a big superstar as a striker.
If we're not going to look at signing someone like Alexis Sanchez (looks like he wants to stay in Barcelona anyway) or maybe Jackson Martinez then we should not bother with signing a 'good' 26-28 year old striker like Osvaldo. We already did that with Vucinic, Matri, Quagliarella etc.
If we are going to put €18m-€20m down make it on someone with a lot of potential who might not make an instant impact but will in perhaps 6-12 months. I'm thinking of the money Milan paid for El Shaarawy, Roma for Lamela, or Liverpool for Suarez. We need to develop our own world class players with that initial investment, because we are not even in the market for world class strikers.
Compared to osvaldo? That was my point about the difference between the two.
I'd rather get anyone else but we should be quite realist about our financial situation...

That make sense. I really like your idea. Lets build our star.
Maybe boakye could be that one?
Concerning Martinez or Suarez, is love to see they in black and white, but not sure we can afford them...

Problem with that is those young players are far a few in between. From the top of my head, Only Muriel, Dybala, and Befodli are the ones that come here and become impact players within a year. It's big risk signing a 19-20 year old and placing big expectations on them.

That's the thing, we won't be placing big expectations on them, at least not straight away. We already have a good team and Llorente coming in for free.
