Seems like we have a lot of people in here that used to watch Pele week in week out.

I find comparisons, where someone compares a player he watches almost every week with a player he's only seen videos of, pointless.

Saying players like Xavi, Iniesta, C.Ronaldo and Messi are not as good as players in the 90's is stupid. Zidane trumps them all, he was a legend in every sense of the word. Other than that the aforementioned players are just as good as the Rivaldo's, Baggio's and Romario's of the world.

:agree: Yup...especially since you have no way of proving it. It's completely subjective and completely unprovable and completely pointless. It's like arguing what the best painting or most beautiful woman of all time is. There is no right or wrong answer and you will get varying opinions, but no facts. Nobody actually knows and nobody can actually prove what they're talking about.

Matri could score 35+ goals in Barca.
:sergio: In the past 10 years in La Liga other than Messi and Ronaldo, only Forlan and Eto scored 30 or more in the league...once each. And mighty Matri is gonna score 35? Cool story bro.

i like this "more athletic" argument

- serie a in its prime, was known to be a slow pace competition, premier league is just like today
- del piero against real madrid in 2008 ? and how old was he ?
- zidane at the 2006 world cup, and how old was he ?
- slow ? I never saw a faster player then pre injury ronaldo, known to in full sprint, make another acceleration
- lizarazu ? roberto carlos ? maldini ?

The average athletism went up, but the brilliance and creativity went down

also la liga in times when they dominated europe, is a vast diffrence versus today

It's Bilbao we have a problem with. Even if we wait until June it won't be easy at all, him being a free agent means teams will offer him higher wages and competition will much bigger than it was this summer.

Thats BS. Why would Atletico keep Llorente 4 more months to prove a point? We offered them around 20m and in January we will definitely not offer them anything close to that.

In 10-11 Matri scored 20 goals in 36 games for Cagliari and for one of the worst Juventus teams ever in the toughest defensive league. Are you telling me he couldn't score 30+ goals for Barca (in a league with much worse defenses) if he played as the targetman/poacher and was the focal point of their attack AND played 60 games?

So you are saying that Matri is better than David Villa or what.
No, but David Villa when not with a broken leg, being the focal point of the attack and managing to play 60 games could score a heck of a lot of goals for Barca.

I would say it's extremely unlikely based on history and the evidence at hand. What did he score last year? 10 goals in 31 games?
