We never paid 20m in cash, and Asamoah is not substitute
We have comitted that ammount, so it is as good as paid, as this year we are paying commited subs of the previous years.
Asamoah was brought as CM sub, it doesnt matter if we convert him into a LWB, CF, or even a keeper, he is a CM and he is unlikely to bench our 3 starters...
I rate him quite a lot and i am glad that he is here. But he should not come at the expense of starters.
Dedicated players of his level on the spots we are struggling (CF, LB, CB) would really make quite an impact imo, playing players out of position is a compromise,
it is a mistake not to buy a 10mil LWB (of Licht, Pereira quality) and play a 20mil CM there, only because we dont have anyone better...
We had Chiellini, Barzagli, Bonucci. invested a good amount on Caceres and added Lucio.. that's a decent group of center D's. c'mon now Cron
The defense is inferior in both numbers and most importantly on quality!
Caceres is as much a CB, as much Isla is a CM, we have only 3 dedicated CBs and at least 6 dedicated CMs, without even counting Asamoah.
It is not by lack though that for 7 consecutive years we are spending the bulk of our budget on new CMs and only a small part on the defense,
7 consecutive years is not a coincidence, its a choice...

IMO such transfer policy creates inbalances, a similar issue happens in the finisher (CF) dribbler (SS) department...
I believe that after all these years we have seen enough of the compromises such an unbalance has brought and thats why i keep criticizing.
IMHO, our team would grow better, bgger and faster if we were optimizing this.
I dont have an intention to hurt anyone's else feeling, merely saying my opnion on a matter that i believe that it is holding us back, from reaching our maximum potential.

:D

I was actually hoping to get a response from Cron, detailing how he came up with the figure of 40 million for 2 subs. Think it would be good for everyone to get some insight into finances & economics, what with the current state of the world.
asamoah and isla indeed cost us more than 30 millions, (was it 32 or 36 or something like that and we still only paid half for both of them this summer), with their wages they definitely cost us around 40 millions total (fee + 1st year wage), and I don't think anybody is naive enough to think back then that these 2 will replace MVP as starters.... isla might start over pepe as RWF but isla was injured while pepe wasn't.

however I recognize that asamoah and pogba are marrotta's best move this summer, while isla is a truly unecessary purchase... the money spent for isla certainly could've been used to buy jojo/dzeko/lorente or even maybe rvp/cavani.

You do understand that we signed a player who can very easily be nr. 1 on that position in the world in a few years? I'm looking forward to Crons reactions when we ship him off to Madrid for 35m in 2014-2015.

Name another team with better depth in CD department ? Caceres also has mentioned numerous times that CB is his fav position and is more comfortable playing there... his versatility is just a bonus.

who did you talk about? asamoah or isla? I admit that we may sell asamoah or vidal for a huge sum in the future if they continue to impress the world, but isla? well firstly he have to overcome his injury, who knows what would happen next, remember del piero had the potential to become better than zidane and ronaldo back then but we all know what happened...

For 5 million, why ain't we signing Berbatov? Dude is the closest thing to Zlatan out there. But more lazy. He's a genius with the ball and is very tall so he'd add that to our strikers. Just get him and Llorente/Dzeko and send Quag away.

isn't he 33 years old now? if he's still at vucinic's age I'd agree to acquire him... no more dead horse crap, we just had 34 yo lucio injured from playing 1 competitive game ffs :sergio:
