so that leads me to my initial hypothesis, who is going to come even close to matching Drogba's current wages as he is forced out by the club due to a lack of funds? Hence why Drogba in my eyes seems like a realistic option. I cant imagine anyone else willing to pay even half of what he currently earns?

gentleman agreements are BS and means nothing
you think we are willing to pay drogba around 6-8m a season?
maybe 3-4m as max but even that would be to much imo.
we have to look to the future in my eyes. Drogba isn''t hungry anymore to win stuff and that is why he choice the relax life in china.
if he leaves or forced out he will quit or go to an other money club in the dessert

Read this article on CM today. Thought it was interesting - translated into english.

CalcioMercato

Three days until the end of the market and Juventus is still looking for their big striker, of which in late May Beppe Marotta had indicated was the main goal for the Bianconeri this transfer campaign.

Meanwhile, the Italian champions have done a great market, taking everything except the big striker purchases in port (leali and, now, a new third-choice goalkeeper, probably Rubinho), defense (the redemption of Caceres, then Masi and Lucio) and midfield (Asamoah, Isla, Pogba and redemption of Giaccherini). For the attack it was reported the aquisition of Sebastian Giovinco to add to the foundation, but not enough: the primary objectives were quite different.

And it is precisely these objectives that, at this point, is in the case of questioning. Yes, because Juventus from May until today has followed and attempted Higuain, Van Persie, Suarez, Destro, Dzeko, Cavani, Llorente and Jovetic. As you can see, it is a big spectrum of players, for technical features as well as placement and tactics. The last two remainging names are Jovetic and Llorente, but the former is considered to be non-transferable by Fiorentina (even with an offer of 30 million), while for the second Athletic Bilbao demands the payment of the out-clause (36 million , too much for a player out of contract in 2013).

Now we are more or less 72 hours before the end of the transfer market - Juventus are now up against the wall and may have to fall back on a Cardozo or a Borriello type player. At this point, since the funds are available (Juve has so far spent 30 million less than in 2011, and so a similar figure is likely to exist), perhaps it's time to ask whether the leadership of Juve has not made an error on this front - their main objective.

The original concept was one great aquisition at all costs, probably (beyond the opportunities that have come to create the market) they were not too clear on their ideas about which player they wanted that would really serve the team. And because of this has come the current uncertainty, the result that they did not go in early, strong and forcefully, on a single target. And now time is almost up...

I agree with everything in this article except the part about Cardozo being a fallback option, and putting him and Borriello in the same sentence.

Cardozo is a far superior player to Borriello and he would do quite well in this juve squad

as a matter of fact i think we might be prepared to offer somewhere in that region of 5mill a season, as i said before if it means not spending money on crap alternatives like osvaldo and keeping that money for a proper target for next season then it seems financially viable

you got a better chance of pissing money than Jovetic coming to Juve this summer.

I agreed with the article too. Good to know your opinion on Cardozo, as I'm not familiar with him at all. I'm sure he'd be an improvement over Borriello.

I'd love to see Drogba in Juve, he's already 34 but strong as fuck. Would fit like a glove in this team.

Anyway, I don't believe it will happen. This is not Juve's policy transfer. The whole team makes at most 3M/a year and then u offer more than double to a guy coming from nowhere?

And no way Drogba is taking something less than 8M.

I'd love to see him, he would be a good short term solution, but I really don't believe it.

btw, Luiz Adriano is shit, shit, shit.

yeah like osvaldo right? fuck that rather have Drogba

and yes the chinese club can't afford Drogba or anelka anymore as the investors don't want to pump anymore money into a club that is failing badly this season, infact last time i checked the table they were near the bottom and i dont remember the last time they won which is why i tend to bet against them ever winning mostly drawing or losing

But again im challenging the thought of anyone prepared to offer Drogba anything remotely close to 8mill in wages if he had to leave.

Here is some food for thought, we are prepared to give Lucio 2.5mill/year to someone who has looked out of form for a while and already in his 30s then somehow Juventus might consider Drogba into perspective who is still a class player for his age with high wages as well
