I don't think anyone is saying Jovetic wouldn't work in Juventus. I personally think he'll be great. But we still need a striker. A striker with physical presence, who knows how to score (+20 goal season) and can receive the ball with a player in his back. A physical striker would also make Jovetic better by creating room around him. Classic synergy.

And please do not use Fiorentina last season as an argument for Jovetic being an answer to Juve's striker-problem.

Juventus and Fiorentina plays very, very differently.

And he was not very good at it. He needs to play off a CF in order to be optimally effective. It's not rocket science, he's just not that type of player. Yes, he is a fantastic talent but we should sign someone like Dzeko first.
And what CF's did Fiorentina have last year?

Amauri. For 13 games.

Let's look at it this way. Is Matri a better CF than Amauri?

I think that everyone here would give a resounding yes to that.

So, if Jovetic scored 14 goals with the players the quality of an Amauri, what would he do with Juve if matri were still here?

Better yet, what would Jovetic do, in turn, to the level of play of Matri, Quag, Vucinic, and Giovinco if he were to come on board?

I don't disagree that a CF is a top priority, but I feel that in this particular case, a player such as Jovetic, who is so very good, would lift the level of play of everyone else on the front line with his presence.

I have no problem using Jovetic as a SS playing off Matri, my problem is playing Jovetic as a CF. In fact, he played better when Amauri was there specifically because he played as a SS(off Amauri) and not as a CF.

Who ever said that he would be the CF?

I certainly did not.

Nzoric, Bianconero_Aus, etc.

My responses were mainly directed towards them.

We're in agreement, then.
In that regards, yes.

My argument is that he is such a player that would elevate the quality of everyone around him. His movement, passing, and vision, let alone his goal scoring, would put whomever is the CF in much better goal scring opportunites than they had last season.

I agree, but we already have Vucinic to do that. Jovetic is better than Mirko, no doubt. However, getting a top CF should be much more important than finding someone to bench Vucinic.

In all honesty if our top player signing was Jovetic, I'd be fucking insanely happy.

Forget about this "he's not a CF" nonsense, this guy is the closest thing to DP's heir out there at the moment. He is still a bit of a goalscorer anyway, but imagine the amount he'd set up :tuttosport:
he is not a CF , althrough he would be great , if he comes i think that vucinic will be the one to play as CF and i expect something like the first milan match where he had a great game , i predict that he can score 15-20 goals (sounds very optimistic but i have faith) and i expect around 15 from jojo , still 30 goals from them both would be pretty good . Also both are very tecnical and if vucinic interprets the role of CF like the milan match our middfielders will also continue to score a lot of goals

^ who plays that role for lets say, Barcelona?

they seem to do just fine.
When villa played barca matches ended 5-0 , 6-0 , 8-0 this year without villa they have been strugling

I really don't like the idea of playing Mirko as a CF. Using the Milan match as a example is not relevant in my opinion as he didn't play well the other times we played him in that position (Catania and Chievo, I think).

Saying Jovetic is injury prone is a myth really. He suffered a horrific injury just like Del Piero suffered when he was a bit younger in the late 90s.Would you call him injury prone too ?

He's definitely not a start and stop player like for example Milan's Pato is.
