Balotelli was sh!t today, he was on a totally different wavelength than Cassano, with whom he's supposed to collaborate, I don't see him pair up well with any of Azzurri's other Strikers either. this guy is too full of himself to have anything good come out of him.Prandelli should give Borini a chance next game.

Every time I watch Balotelli play, I get more clear on the "should we sign him" thought. This guy is the worst $#@! ever. HOPE to never ever see him anywhere near our team..

YES I know he is very talented, but the dude got issues!
Haha, it's actually the quite opposite for me. Yes, he sure has some issues, but I can't help but feel that he's extremely talented and that we need a player with his skills.

I was never impressed with Balotelli, neither at Man City nor at Italy. He was somewhat impressive at Inter, but his talent is definitely not big enough to tolarete his shit. Keep away from Juve.

It's like talking with Borriello supporters. No matter how bad he is, I will always read thing like "he fought hard", "he made his presence".

WHO CARES?
First and foremost I am as far from a Balotelli supporter as the average member here is away from supporting Inter. Second I care, you do, apparently, and at least several other posters that just replied in the last few minutes. That is the reality now.

He was the worst Italian player, his play didn't do anything good for the team. He wasted the best chance of the game and did it in a pathetic way. He is a striker, he is supposed to score goals and create danger which he didn't do at all. 5 minutes after he is subbed, Di Natale does what Balotelli should have done. That's a real striker.
I still don't understand how was his chance better than Torres' for instance...?!? ... But let's not start by putting the entire context of your statement under suspicion. Let's just say that he wasted the best chance for italy in the first half, one that he created for himself through sheer determination and HARD WORK. He can't tackle, run and score every 5 minutes... you know, right? ... but he was giving a damn good account of himself so far. Have you even noticed Di Natale of Jewvinco doing such things?... Which conveniently brings me to my next point: Did you even notice that once Balotelli was off Italy lost the foothold on the final third of the pitch, spanish defenders went much more comfortable on the ball and Italy switched to a more counter-attacking style/balls over the top which obviously suits Di Natale best? If you had noticed then you could begin to grasp the effect 'the worst' player had on the game... :agree:
Yes, of course, he was booked and , of course, it was a stupid booking but he was tackling (he did the same thing against Arsenal/Sagna, but way more irresponsibly) and defenders were feeling the heat. These are Ramos and Pique we are talking about and they were nowhere near comfortable on the ball. If anything the spaces Cassano had (cause him and the midgit were playing OFF the other striker) were almost incomparable with the ones he had with Di Natale and the ones Giovinco had later on./But this Imho has more to do with Cassano's / Giovinco's difference in skills/.
So - all in all - I would give 6 out of 10 to Balotelli. And it would have been 7 if not for the booking/8 for the miss.

He was also chosen as the worst Italian player by pretty much every source, be it english, italian or whatever. Only his biggest fanboys here can say he did anything good and didn't play bad.
That is simply untrue. What is true though is the thing I've mentioned above - pundits got to eat.

i dont want balotelli at juve bc of his history (his head) and flirting with milan. but i do admire his talent and as a italy supporter i like the fact he plays for us. he has carisma and great presens on and off the field. he stands out from so many boring athlets. his talent is undeniable, and he might and up as the world best player one day.

i belive he is mentally superior to most ppl, as most ppl would not endure the pressure thats been placed on this 22y old kid/man. It is also why i think he will become the best player in the world. he is icecold, and reacts so well to pressure. a good attribute for a striker and footballer. he is also a winner in the zlatan catagory

Good points. Most on here don't realize what always being the scapegoat feels like. I mean come on the fact he got a lashing from the ref for punching the ground is beyond biased and ridiculous. No one else would have even been looked at for that

I  Balotelli, but that miss pissed me off soooooooooo much! I wonder what was going on in his head.
Pass the ball and fluff it or be the hero and go for glory... I guess.
Prandelli was pretty adamant and clear he should have passed, and that is what every good coach would say, but double more so in Balotelli's case because he isn't lacking on confidence... :D

The ref and all the warnings by platini etc have gotten into his head. Then he starts defeating himself
Platini was supporting Italy though. It was so obvious... He was pretending to be neutral, but on one of the spanish misses it became very clear - the future spanish king jumped in expectancy of a goal and Michele almost froze in his seat....
He is Italian after all... :p

In what sense was Giovinco bad? he was introduced when Italy lost control of the game and all the balls fed to him were long balls that were too high to him. When he did get the ball at his feet he played a perfect pass. Spain were in full control of the game by the time gio was on. He might have done better than cassano when facing defenders one on one.
